    Lager times

So when I do bottle this thing, what temp do I keep the bottles at? I can't fit 50 beers in my chiller unit that houses my carboy.

    Dry hopping question

Holy S#$%! That was the best IPA I have ever had. Sorry, I'm not trying to brag. All I did was follow the instructions and heed the advice of my fellow brewsters here. Thanks so much for the great feedback.

    Lager times

It was an ale yeast that came with the kit. I forget the name or type, but I do remember that it was a commonly used one. It is probably going on two months now. I suppose I'll bottle soon. Thanks for the info.

    Lager times

I have an Altbier lagering and wonder how long I should let it go. It has been about a month. Should I bottle or let it ride?

    Dry hopping question

Thanks all for the advice. I will wait for clarity. Glad to know they will spread out. I didn't want a big pile of them right in the middle doing less. I'll keep you posted.

    Dry hopping question

I am fermenting a batch of double IPA, and the instructions say to sprinkle the 2 additional ounces of hops over the top of the krausen. They assume that it is in a bucket, but mine is in a 6 gallon carboy. How am I supposed to sprinkle through a 2" hole and get it to spread and cover the top of...

bottle conditioning temp for Irish Stout

I also agree that the stout needs to be drunk at a bit warmer temp. Looking forward to trying it:)

bottle conditioning temp for Irish Stout

When you say "swamp cooler", I am assuming you mean a foam box with ice cube trays and a fan. I have considered it, but space and maintenance are issues. The wine chiller would be ideal if I could get it to stay at a warmer temp. I can only get it to 60F. It's out in our carport next to the...

bottle conditioning temp for Irish Stout

Thanks for reply. I like the cellar idea. I took a gravity reading before I bottled and it was 1.019-1.02. The kit's instructions called for 1.010-1.012. I wonder if and how this may affect the outcome. I tasted my gravity sample and it was pretty good, no crazy flavors or anything. I brewed...

bottle conditioning temp for Irish Stout

I recently bottled my Stout and I wonder what the safe temp ranges are for storing the cases of bottles. I have them currently at 80F. We are in S.Florida, so finding a spot with an ambient temp any lower is tough, no basements here. I do have a wine bottle chiller, but the warmest I can get it...

    fermentation questions re: Stout

So we are at 1.020, do I up the temp and let it ride, or do I pitch again? Didn't taste bad, just a little sour at the end. Color looks good and it is pretty much settled.

    fermentation questions re: Stout

I'm going to take a reading and I'll post my findings. Thanks for the advice.

    fermentation questions re: Stout

Hello, I brewed an Irish Stout kit from True Brew two Sats. ago. I followed the instructions and heeded the advice received here. The yeast was a dry packet that I bloomed according to the packet's directions. I pitched at 66F and fermented in a bucket for about 5 days. The airlock stopped after...

    South Florida Hop Growing

Hi there, I am new to homebrewing but not gardening. I am interested in growing hops in SW Florida. Have you had any success at this, and is it feasible for a small plot garden?

    first time bottling

Well we made it. 51 plus a sample. I have a wine chiller that when turned off holds at 70 degrees. I turned it to 1 on the dial and overnight it is holding at 60. I turned it to just before 0 to see where it will go. What temp is ideal for a pale ale?

sanitation questions for bottling first batch

Thanks for the reply. I am planning to go right from dishwasher (once cooled) to bottling. The dishwasher is super hot and even has a "sani rinse" mode as part of the regular wash cycle. I have c-brite. It came with the kit. Everything is sanitized and ready to go. I just wanted to make sure and...
