hoppy? I think you're making the assumption that all the central American teams are the same. No they're not. Panama is a defensive team with quality CBs and the team as a group plays a very physical style. It was a rough game where the ref kept his whistle in his pocket. The US actually played...

    Should i go to secondry

Give it three weeks in the primary. Move to a secondary if you are not comfortable working off the yeast at the bottom. If I can just say, 5 days is way to soon to be messing with your beer. Just because the bubbling has stopped doesn't mean your yeast isn't still working.

    Drying hops question

Haven't had this experience either. How thick are you laying the hops to dry?

Former extract, former all grain, now extract brewer brewer

Extract works fine for me. I get to brew often and the amount of time keeps my wife happy. I can't pull of the "honey I will see you in 6-8 hours" stuff on the weekend with all sorts of other things to do. Extract keeps the "all you want to do is brew" down to a minimum.

    Labeling methods?

+1 with KevinB. I use Avery 5408 round labels too. They are perfect for bottle caps. Avery also has free template software that lets you create you own label style. I can put the name of the brew, the date it was bottled, ABV and IBUs. Started throwing in some graphics too. I prefer this as...

Coffee mug broke in my wort

Spend two bucks at the hardware store and get some one gallon paint strainers. Figuring sanitation yada yada, you'll attach them to the end of your siphon hose (exit end) doubled up. Use a rubber band, and you should catch anything when you transfer to the bottling bucket. Next time remember...

Yea, MLS talk! Sigi finally didn't beat himself against arena twice! He didn't outthink himself before kick off. Bringing Papas off the bench with 90 minutes of energy to use in 30. They have to chase him and it opens things up. It helps that Papas doesn't really have to defend either or has...

Has brewing beer demystified beer for you?

I think my brewing helps me appreciate the process more. I think about it now vs. downing a beer, pretty much any beer. Now I tend to actually look at the style and "taste" for the style when drinking. Not so much volume over flavor these days.

Cutting Brew Day Time the time challenge!

Just kind of skimmed your post, but to the OP, if you plan on doing what you said you wanted to in your kitchen, better check with your home owners policy. There's a reason the gas is what it is in your house. Altering things can work yourself right out of coverage. Check first. If you're in...

    New brewer with og question

Spend $20 for a refractometer. They are easier to read, use less beer and most look like a mini lightsaber... You're close enough on your numbers as others pointed out could be your water levels, boil off and half a dozen other things, but 3 points could also just be your eyes or how your...

I think this will be tightly called today. The CR is the one who missed the "bite" and the fallout over the knee to the back non call, non card in the other match. There has been so much media attention and refs watch and read stuff that the CR will call a tight match.

Packersfan? So you post something about a program we have abandoned over 40 years ago and fail to understand that they are watching and kicking a soccer ball around on the international space station right now? Good Bazinga man? You really showed everybody here?

"I see you avoided the flopping and crying in soccer" packerfan? Did you forget about pass interference? Every time a receiver doesn't make the catch in traffic, what happens? geese you make this assumption that nobody knows sports. It appears you don't even understand your prized...

"the title of this thread is? If you can't handle the truth, maybe you should leave?" packerfanindegio Did you happen to catch the date this thread was created? And before you declare something is the "truth" you should really figure out if it's your opinion more than "truth". Like it...

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

"Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe both Dempsey & Bradley are making significantly more money in MLS than they ever made in Europe." Actually it's a combo. They could get similar money in Europe, but be bench or reserve players. The move to the US for both these guys had more to...

Just so we clear up an issue about penalty kicks... from fifa law 14, Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. However, feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run-up is considered an infringement of Law 14 and...

In the Mexico game all you can do is ask the referee to be consistent. Something that is not a foul in the first ten minutes should not become a foul in the last ten minutes. Players will adjust to a referee and a good game can be had as long as the ref stays consistent. The ref in this game...

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

If you move MLS to a international schedule, you would lose venues for games on days of the week they currently have. Having Saturdays and Sundays pretty much unchallenged for use through their season has allowed the MLS to grow as attendance on weekends is much higher than through the week...

The MLS season is fine as it is. It's growing domestically and the numbers continue to improve. They don't need to compete for space and time with the NFL and College football. Yes, there is some overlap, but some overlap is still much more favorable than complete overlap.
