    stand up freezer / what thermostat?

    I just got a nice(older) stand-up freezer! I will be using this to ferment lagers and ales. I may also use it as a beer fridge when I am not brewing. How exact does the thermostat NEED to be? What do most of you use? I would rather not spend alot of money if I don't HAVE to :)

    got myself a BIG pot!!

    I got a stainless pot that is 18" in DIA. and 18" tall. BIG! and thick walled! But now I need some kind of burner or electric heating unit. I am an electrician so I am open to building a burner of any kind but cost is an issue here.

    my basement is at 50f!

    williams "stout" LME questions

    what exactly is it? can I make anything other than stout with it? I have 25 pounds of this due to a great deal online but I don't think I want 3 or 4 batches of the same stout.
