    Speedig up the process

I bought a blast bottle cleaner. When someone finishes off a beer (mine or another with brown pop offs such as Sam Adams) they know to wash it out with the blast, which takes all of 10-15 seconds. They are then placed in a box in the corner of my laundry room. When the next bottling day comes...

How long is too long for conditioning?

Awesome, sounds good. With all those spices I was hoping maybe some extra conditioning might actually help combine the flavors. Like day old chili or something.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

My first batch was the west coast pale ale. I wanted more alcohol, as a measly 3.7 seemed weak. So I added enough white sugar to bring the total to 6.0. Long story short, it tasted like bud light cut with apple juice or something. I didn't care for it, but strangely, my SWMBO loves it. So...

How long is too long for conditioning?

Are we talking fridge temps, or just out of the heat? I have a small beer fridge and can't really afford the space for two cases that have to stay there all year.

How long is too long for conditioning?

Hey guys, I brewed up a Christmas ale with ginger, cinnamon, honey, and cloves this season. Due to being really busy, I left it in the fermenter a week too long and as a result I bottled a week later. So long story short my Christmas beer won't be ready for another week or so at least. I don't...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

It was crystal clear when I bottled it, but there is some sediment in the bottom of the bottles now. I'm really hoping I got enough live yeast in the bottles to carb it up. Is it possible the yeast was killed by a high abv?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

So my apfelwein was made 9/9/2011. 4.5 gallons generic apple juice, about 2-3 pounds table sugar. (I had a 5 lb bag and poured about 1/2 in). Used 1 Montrachet red pack, and some yeast energizer. Well I bottled it about 3 weeks ago, with 3/4 tsp per bottle table sugar. Left it room temp till a...

    Cloning Woodchuck Granny Smith

Hey everyone... just wanting to get some input on trying to clone Woodchuck Granny Smith. My SWMBO really loves this stuff, and I'd like to be able to make something similar myself. Anyone make anything similar or have any advice? I'm a begginner, so I'm open to everything!

    Another from Georgia

Hey! What part of Chattanooga? I'm in Ringgold, obviously.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

My SWMBO really loves woodchuck granny smith hard cider. Anyone had this and know how this recipe compares? I'm thinking this one will be a little drier. The woodchuck is very tart, but has some sweetness to balance it out. At about $2 a bottle, I'd really like to make a clone of it cheap. My...

    Turkey fryer

    New Costco Beers

Mine says New York. I don't like the wit. I dont know what it is... Maybe the coriander? My favorite is the amber. I'll admit though, I'm no beer snob. On a really hot day after cutting grass or something, sometimes I'd prefer an ice cold bud light with lime over a craft beer They are all...

Do full boils make that much of a difference over partial boils?

I didn't read all the posts, so forgive me if I repeat someone's post. Turkey fryer kits usually go on sale a few days after thanksgiving. You can already get one for about $60 online. With an after thanksgiving sale, it could be half that.

    New Costco Beers

I have a cooler out in the corner of my porch filled with water and a few scoops of oxyclean. When someone finishes a beer, they throw the bottle in the cooler. When the cooler is full, I take the bottles straight to the sink, fill it with hot soapy water, and the glue comes right off with...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

When I use the original bottle for little test batches I usually just stick a balloon on top, tape it around the neck, and poke a hole through the top of the balloon. Cheap, easy, and gets the job done.

    Fruit flies in airlock

I'll probably try one of those traps. But, it won't hurt anything to pull the airlock off, cover it with a paper towel or something for a few minutes, clean it and replace it?
