    Lingonberry In Beer

What kind of amounts do you tend to use. Like what's the weight of berries you use for regular 5 gallon batch?

    Lingonberry In Beer

I have family reunion coming up(of a bunch of swedes), and i have settled on a kind of Lingonberry Sour (slightly sour). The problem is that I have never used lingonberrys. I'm not sure I've even seen them outside of lingonberry jame. Searching the forums, I mostly come up with Lingonberry wine...

What are your "can't live without" equipment items?

Bottling wand and autosiphon. My first bottling session ever didn't use these. There never was a second session without them. Also, I think my new propane burner will become one soon.

Attention new brewers, yes your original gravity reading is wrong. Don't panic.

Can't believe I haven't thought of this or seen this post before. This probably explains several batches where I have been under the target OG. Now I wish I didn't added more DME to boost it.

    Glass carboy vs. plastic bucket

Every few months I keep coming back and searching this question. I like the bucket because it is first and foremost cheap. It is also much lighter than glass. It is probably the main reason I don't at least have one glass carboy. Been working on my upper body, but I think I would probably have...

Propane Burner Bayou Sp-10 - Smaller Regulator

The holiday season is upon us and I thought I would take this opportunity to start getting/giving myself the necessary equipment for all-grain. I specifically have a question about a propane burner to use for full boils. Reading through the homebrew talk thread history I was kind of set on the...

    Green Apple IPA

Funny I just listened to the old fruit beer episode of the Jamil Show on the Homebrew Network and he was saying hoppy beers generally did not make good fruit beers since bitter and fruit did not generally go together and that is probably what I would have advised had you not mentioned your...

    A More Permanent Label

I have a family reunion coming up, and I'm brewing a beer specially for it. Usually I would want a label that could easily come off, but in this case I want to make a sort of a keepsake bottle for the reunion. I've searched these forums and found more permanent label options like avery labels...

    how to add coffee

I recently did a cold steep. Took a half pound of coffee in 24 ounces of water, put it in a sterilized jar in the fridge for 24 hours. Then I added it when I racked to secondary. Haven't tasted it, but supposedly it should produce a smooth coffee flavor. You would get a harsh flavor if you added...

    Hi from Chicago!

As a matter of fact I am looking for a homebrew club. The only home brewer I know lives in Seattle and frankly all the non brewers around here are tired of my beer and brewing talk.

How do you guys clean your glasses and how/where do you store them?

I've been using a fragrance free detergent for all my hand washing since before I started brewing (but after I started reading up on brewing) or in a pinch I throw them in the dishwasher. Then I try to rinse off the jet dry stuff film layer as good as possible. They are then stored in a cabinet...

    Hi from Chicago!

Of the many places I lived in Chicago, lakeview was by far my favorite. Not to mention that there are far better brepubs, restraunts, bars, and liquor stores to get good beer there than anywere else I've been, but I am sick of moving and I suppose it was a pain to get anywhere besides the loop...

Many mistakes, wondering if my brew will survive

In addition to the major oxidation I thought I caused during my travesty of a bottling session.

Many mistakes, wondering if my brew will survive

I'm a new brewer myself, but I think you'll be alright. Fermentation started withint 12 hours and lasted a few days and that seems like a good sign. The wort chiller would have been sanitized in the boiling wort and as long as it was free of dirt and such it should be alright. The water from the...

    Hi from Chicago!

I've lived in various places on the northside from Lakeview to Logan Square to the more nothwest side and even a year in Mt Prospect. Now back in the city on the northwest side. I got my pale ale bubbling away nicely in the basement and I cannot wait to try it. I'm thinking about what is next...

    Hi from Chicago!

Been meaning to brew for years, but never got around to doing anything about it until a month or so ago. Now my first batch is finished and half the bottles are already gone with more friends and family still demanding to try. I guess people liked it. Next Brew day is tommorrow. Hope to get lots...
