    Whole cone hop usage

Just used my first hop crop of Cascades today in a pale ale. Haven't used fresh hops before, was just wondering if the yellow lupilin globes are supposed to have dissolved after use? Used in a nylon hop bag for fifteen minutes and five minutes with plenty of room in the bags, not packed tight...

    Belgian beers finally tried

This week I had training in Denver, and found Applejacks off of I70. Finally got to try Rochefort 6 and 10, (mindblowingly excellent) Orval, (not quite what I was expecting) Duvel, (also love it) Karmeliet (great) and still have an Abt 12 in the fridge. Also got to go to the Falling Rock tap...

    clogged poppet valve

If I may rant a bit, Just tapped my Octane IPA keg that I had sitting at 37 degrees F for a week, only the second keg I have hooked up. After swearing a bit due to a trickle coming out of my tap, figured it was the valve being screwed up as it was a used keg and looks like a universal...

    Star San convert with caveat

Hey guys, Just brewed and my first time with Star San, read all about it on here and thought I would try it out. Was sanitizing with bleach before, and had no problems, but Star San sounded so much easier, plus no rinsing sounded awesome. I mixed a little less than 1/4 oz with a gallon...

    Thanks!

Hey guys, Just thought I'd drop a line and thank everyone for the massive amounts of info on HBT, I started brewing a year ago and don't have many posts, because usually I only have to do a search and my questions have been answered already. You guys kick ass! Stevo

Getting raw honey out of bucket?

Hello, First time making mead last night, and bought some local unheated, unfiltered honey in a 1 gallon bucket. Put the bucket in hot water in the sink to make it flow better like I usually do with malt extract, and found that the honey was more a waxy solid than a liquid. This I did not...

    Hi from WY

Hi, Just thought I'd say hi, from Wyoming and just got started about 3 months ago with 5 gallon extract brewing after about 7 months with Mr. Beer. Have learned a lot from this site already and read it quite a bit before joining up. Just started late extract from reading the posts on it for...
