    Brewing in Warm weather?

As others said, until you find a good system to maintain lower fermentation temps, have at the belgian yeasts! Make some lovely saisons too. Mmmm .... what a delicious dilemma you have!

What I did for beer today

Tonight after work I: -Took a sample of my Irish Red and replaced the blowoff with an airlock -Took a sample of my Saison and moved it upstairs for higher ferm temps -Cleaned my kegerator and kegged my hopped cider

    I guess I'm a drug dealer now?!

I felt a bit suspicious when my friend and I had to separate our bulk order of 50lbs of DME into 3lb ziplock baggies, and had to empty the bag out in front of my house so the white powder would fly everywhere. Then again, I live in Baltimore city, so this probably looked normal.

    Films You Watch when Drunk?

Whatever "Hong Kong Revenge Movie" Netflix recommends to me. I enjoy going back to the badass fight scenes in Ip Man, though.

Equally Obnoxious Hockey Trash Talk Thread, eh?

The players decided they didn't want a 3 goal lead anymore.

Pliny the Elder....not as good as it use to be

Living on the east coast, I never had a Pliny until a month ago. I have to say that it was rather underwhelming. Not terrible by any means, but did not live up to the hype.

    Absurdly High Markup on Beer.

That isn't considered an expense in the DC area. If you make under six figures you can't afford more than one or two rooms in your apartment. Not for the beers you mentioned, but I don't put a price on a beer that I love and really want to drink. I will gladly spendt $200 for ~10 bottles of...

    Sam Calagione on "Beer Geeks"

DFH is one of my favorite breweries. Then again, I live in MD so they are rather close (maybe making me a bit bias), but even if I don't like one of their experimental beers, I applaud Sam's creativity for trying something different and releasing it to the public. His rant makes sense to me, I...

What kind of HDTV do you have and what made you buy it?

Last TV I bought was a Samsung 46" 1080p LCD TV, 60hz. This was a few years back. I would never buy a TV in a Best Buy/ hhgregg, etc... horribly overpriced. Even Black Friday deals now aren't really deals. Check out dealnews.com or slickdeals.net or any deal site for a good one. Compare the...

    Fat Tire

FT can be overrated definitely. It was just recently available in stores in MD, so people went nuts over it. I would definitely drink it over any BMC without question, but I wouldn't lust for it. Now, the New Belgium 1554 is another story. Very tasty, and love the mouthfeel.

    Brewers Alley in Frederick, MD

I grew up in Frederick, and moved in my 20s to Baltimore. As a 'beer snob', I would say their beer is alright, nothing fancy. However, the fact that they make their own, and don't charge a stupid ass cover in the middle of the country (or maybe they started, like every other bar in the 0.5 mile...

Isn't there a song, "Brewing in a hurricane?"

Yup, I brewed a double chocolate oatmeal stout yesterday during the rain. Why not?

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

Brewed this recipe today! First time doing a partial mash, think it went pretty well. Ended up with an OG of 1.073 ish. I eyeballed the last pound of LME, so I may have added a little more. I probably didn't have the most consistent mash temp, so if it ends up with less fermentables and a...

    Earthquake

By BWI, our second story lab floor shook a decent amount. We all left the building, and the first thing I thought about while standing in the parking lot was, "I hope my carboys are okay!"

    Hockey, unpopular among fellow homebrewers?

He isn't the softest on the team (leave that to the human pylon, Schultz), but I would love if the Caps traded him. We already got rid of the worst NHL player, Tyler Sloan. We need to get rid of Schultz, and trade Semin/Green for a legit shutdown defensemen / serviceable 3rd pairing D man...

    Hockey, unpopular among fellow homebrewers?

It would be a disgrace if Nylander makes any pro team. He (and his contract) was the bane of our existence a few season ago.

    Hockey, unpopular among fellow homebrewers?

I've been a Caps fan since the mid 90's, unfortunately. Trust me, the bandwagon fans probably annoy us real fans more than the rest of the league. Have fun with Jagr! I saw his buddy circles (Nylander) was offered a pro tryout by Philly as well. That would just be hilarious ;)

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

Sounds good. I just purchased the ingredients, and hope to make it this Saturday. It will be my first partial mash. The Belgian Strong extract I made last month will be coming out of secondary shortly, just in time to hold this tasty brew. I will let you know how it goes!
