    Kegging Virgin

    Keep the liquid under the gas in post!

    Mead not clearing... any help?

    Give us some gravity readings.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

    Guys, remember: Yeast Nutes Kill Rhino Farts. YNKRF?

    #!*%, that surprized me.

    David knows what's up - just break it down, clean it up, and dry 'er out. Just like a Dog Wash ;) Did you have pressure on, or was the gas off? That could be it right there. He's also correct about the head space.... not to imply anything... but you hit the right post, right? ;)

    #!*%, that surprized me.

    What PSI was your regulator set at?? Might be a good idea to relieve pressure before re-hooking the gas. Personally, I've never had that happen, but I don't condition with sugar anymore and the regulator always has 12-15 PSI behind it before I hook up the disconnects. As for the...

    I had to try the apple-wine

    I suggest hitting it with some K-Sorbate and then back-sweeten with concentrate. I did the Ed Wort recipie, subbed brown sugar for regular, and backsweetened with 2 cans of concentrate. Love it, gives more of an apple flavor.

    Hard Cider?

    I try to defend users against statements about age, but no shadow of a doubt here. Bannination?

    Something To Think About.

    :off: I don't think that'll kill you. You live as long as you get enough O2. 15% might just make you have some hallucinations, though. Not the fun kind, for you hippies. The "poop-your-pants" near death experience kind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbogen

    Cleaning and Using Old Bottles

    Well, here's what I'd try: Bleach, heavily Rinse Inspect Isopropyl Alcohol, 91% Rinse Inspect Lye Rinse Inspect Now if that doesn't do the trick, I'd go ahead and consider that a lost cause.

    Something To Think About.

    Seems a little alarmist to me. "Illicit Gas Fillers"? DUN-DUN-DUNNNNNN I think the boys at AirGas do a fine job for me.

    Tips for keeping smell down?

    Yeast Nutrient, Yeast Nutrient, Yeast Nutrient, Yeast Nutrient, and that stuff that feeds yeast... what's it called? Yeast Nutrient. The difference is night and day when making cider or Ed's Apfelwein. I know I much prefer the smell of apples to the smell of rancid rhino farts. Hey...

    summer brewing with no fridge?

    A full bathtub does wonders to moderate temperature fluctuations. Just fill it up to the water line in your fermenter. Of course, if s--- hits the fan, you could always through ice in there, but you might be suprised to find that it shouldn't be necessary.

    Pre-Sanitizing and Storing Bottles

    Mushrooms, board filter. Not feces. ;)

    Pre-Sanitizing and Storing Bottles

    Saran Wrap, something to tighten it around the mouth of the bottle. I suggest rubber bands. If it works for ****take cultures, it'll work for this. :rockin:

    Mead in 3 months?

    Everyone here will tell you I'm wrong, but I made Papazian's Antipodal mead with raspberries (yeah, yeah, melomel) and it was done and drinkable in two months. Everyone I've given it to seems to love it. I used like 4 packets of yeast though, and about 3/4 of an ounce of yeast nutes... so...

    CO2 charger

    Not to be a hippie, but the chargers used for whipped cream aren't nitrogen, they're nitrous oxide. :fro:

    How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    856.5+5=861.5 ...thassalotta apfelwein. Somewhere, the ghost of Sam Walton is wondering why apple juice is so popular these days. :drunk:

    Priming Mead

    Thanks a bunch! Actually, I have Grolsch-Style 750mL and 1 L bottles, so hopefully we won't have glass schrapnel... ;) Thanks again!

    Priming Mead

    What amount of sugar is used to prime a single 750mL bottle of mead? Looking for a beer/cider level of carbonation.
