No rinse agent. Wheat MDE. I'll have to look into that. That may be something I'll try next time. Thanks. :)

    I want more head!!!

I do notice after 2 weeks it has a decent froth developing, and yes after 4 weeks is best. My basement is cool, about 62F. However, I may often have some bottles sitting for up to 6 weeks before chilling and drinking. In the long run, it isn't quite as good as I wish it was. If I try...

    I want more head!!!

Ok, all jokes aside. Really, I think because I live at sea level, the head from my brewing just doesn't seem to be as good as I want it. I do get some decent foam, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be the rich tiny bubble-like lather that one would expect from a quality home brew...

    Address labels?

Yeah, they're Avery labels. If they're that much of a problem, I probably won't bother. Thanks.

    Address labels?

I've got a pack of 8160 address labels I found in my closet. Never use them. I thought maybe I could use them for a batch of mext brew, as sort of a smaller less "in your face" kind of label. They measure 1x2-5/8. Anyway, I was wondering if these come off bottles easy enough before I have to...

    my logo idea. whatdya think?

I agree, on the neck would be rather ominous. You'll scare little kids away if you put a big faded/shady picture of Leatherface on the main label.

How much loss from the Primary?

Ok, it is a 6.5 gallon carboy, because there's plenty of space on top when it fill it with 5 gallons of beer. I just wasn't sure if losing this muich beer was normal or not.

    Dumb Bottling question.

No, I don't mind the sediment. Only on ocassion, I like to take some with me on vacation in the summer, etc, and haul lots of beer in the cooler. Of course when packed in with ice, the bottles fall over, etc, and the sediment goes everywhere. It can't be helped. Just banging the cooler around...

How much loss from the Primary?

When you brew a heavier ale, like a Scotch Ale for example, in a 5 gal carboy, how much would you expect if any beer to loose from any overflow from excessive bubbling? Is it normal for this to happen? I lost some, and thought maybe it was due to cleanliness, but everytime I've ever done a...

    Dumb Bottling question.

Aside of bottling from a pressurized keg, is there anyway to bottle without getting the sediment on the bottom? I would assume no, since you need some sort of sugar for the yeast to consume, and thus leave a sediment. Thought I'd ask anyway.

    Added water when racking.

Ok, I only asked this because I added the water, when normally I wouldn't, and thought maybe a little bacteria from the water may have caused a bit of excess foaming in the second rack. But, it sounds like it should be ok. Thanks. :)

    Added water when racking.

Oops. I think I may have made a boo boo. I noticed that when I was racking that initially hadn't added enough water the first time when sparging to give me a full 5 gallons. So, thinking it's no big deal, I added about 1/2gal of cold fresh water to bring it up to 5gal even. Now, I have to...

    Hey all!

New guy here. Just got back into home brewing and found this site while looking for info. Looks like a good place to learn a bit more about one of my favorite hobbies. :)
