    Is Lindeman's Kriek Pasteurized?

Looking for some info on how this came out - I have a quad I'm about to brew, and a large bottle of L K to blend in. Did 2% (small bottle / 5 gallons) work out ok? Seems low, but would love to hear some feedback after the aging.

    Hops Additions

It's not a bad habit to get into leaving anything you do (which isn't high ABV) sit in primary for a few weeks. Give it 3 or 4 weeks, check the gravity, bottle.

    Need help with IPA hopping

Just found 1oz of Nelson (pellets) vac packed in the fridge from last year - gives me more options.

    Need help with IPA hopping

Galena. Think my spell checker decided to throw in the name of a city. Thanks spell checker.

2 separate - same grains in both, just different hops (to show the effect of hops on brewing)

    Need help with IPA hopping

Planning to do 2 IPAs this weekend so went to the LHBS this morning to pick up the gear... I was planning to do one Nelson (yumyum), and one heavily citra (showing a friend who wants to get into homebrewing, so thought it would be interesting to see how different hops impacted the final...

    First Hefeweizen Questions.

Did a heff with 300 recently. hell of a head on it. I had to stir it and let it drop for a few days before bottling. Someone on here posted that they rack from below it, but I found that stirring it worked fine.

    Extract or all grains

I started with extract, nailed all the other parts of the process, and then moved onto all grain - the move between the 2 was simple, 80% of the process is the same. I tell all my friends who want to start brewing that they should do it the same way. Do some extract brews, ideally nice fast...

    Sanitization double check

This is my process, has worked for 16 batches now: - after drinking swill with hot water - bottle day, check for any yeast compacted on bottom, clean out if there is - fill bottles with scorching hot water - empty bottles, spray with star san, shake vigerously - tip out excess star san...

    BIAB mash efficiency low. Why?

If you're picking the grain up at a local store just run it all through the mill twice. Works for me.

    BIAB OG too low...ideas please

I generally get low 70s efficiency when I crush the grain myself at my local homebrew store - got a kit from AHS last week and brewed yesterday, followed my usual steps exactly, came out at 64%. I remember thinking that the grain didn't look as crushed as it normally did, which would explain the...

    ok 911 (wort in airlock)

Have a pretty big stout going crazy right now - woke up to the blowoff tube full, and the bucket lid was all distended upwards, about to pop. Released the pressure, cleaned and put the tube back, 15 minutes later the tube was full again. Gave up on the tube - removed the plastic bung from the...

    Simple BIAB Calculator Question

Huh - I've done 2 BIAB recipes and each time (with room temp grain) I've started with 158 water and it's dropped to 150. 2 degrees seems like a very very small drop for 12lbs or so grain - that's a lot of mass to heat up, and loss of heat from stirring the grain in.

    Goodbye extract brewing

I just had my first bottle of my first all grain brew, and frankly it's tremendous :mug:. This post is me drawing a line under my extract brewing days, and hopefully adding something tiny to the combined knowledge of this awesome community. I held off the switch to all grain brewing (had 12 5...

    Imperial Stout Double-W Imperial Stout

I really want to do a big beer, however with my biab setup there isn't a chance in hell I can mash 20+ lbs. I can do 14 at a stretch. Is there any easy way to swap in some lme / dme for a chunk of that pale malt? Adapting recipes is still a little beyond my skillset, and I don't really want...

What I did for beer today

Off the beaten track a little today, my ginger beer plant arrived, so I got that all set up and bubbling away, fingers crossed nothing explodes. Its an insane way to brew - get fermentation started, bottle as fermentation starts really kicking in, let it ferment in the bottles and quickly throw...

What I did for beer today

Bottled an extract wheat, and did my final preperations for my first all grain batch later this week. I also finally stooped stressing about not being able to get my beers under a fg of 0.020 (12 extract brews, one went under 0.020, what the **** - different beer types, yeasts, ferment temps...

How many gallons of Homebrew in 2012?

5g wheat beer, 5g Nelson IPA single hop = 1060

How often should I take hydrometer readings?

I'm lazy, and an extract brewer (doubly lazy!) - I tend to leave every brew for a month, and then take a reading - I have serious issues getting anything below 0.018, so as long as the beer is down to around 1.020 I bottle it. After a month, nothing new is going to happen. The only issue I had...

    Help with milk stout FG

I like sweet drinks, so it was fine for me ;) Not as sweet as some drinks I've had in the past, sweet for a beer, though.
