    Need recipe advice!

Hi, I'm trying to formulate a recipe for a creative beer. I have made mostly traditional beers (Pale Ale, IPA, Stout, and Irish Red) and now I want to expiriment with some unusual ingredients. I thought I would try a fruit beer first...how does this recipe sound? I have never brewed a fruit...

    First AG Question

My first AG has logged 9 days of bottle conditioning. It tastes great (even @room temp) and is easily better than my best extract beers by a huge margin. When I serve it slightly chilled or at room temp it has a really thick, creamy white head. But when I chill it for a prolonged time so it...

    Is AG reaally worth it?

So, I've made 4 extract batches so far. While they are far from undrinkable, they have all just been "ehhh". I'm thinking i just dont like the taste of extract beer. I use DME, pay close attention to sanitation, close attention to hop schedules, do not drink the beer until about 4 weeks in...

    Efficiency?

I want to get into all grain brewing, but all the literature is a little overwhelming...For example, what does "efficiency" mean and how do you know when you are at, say 75% efficiency? Could someone write out the basic step by step ag brewing process in layman's terms? All the literature...

    Harry Potter Butterbeer

Hey Capn Jewbeard, I would hold off on adding that flavoring from spice barn, see my above posts...I got the same thing, and expirimented by adding a drop into a bottle of another batch of homebrew. It totally destroyed the head! I actually chickened out and added vanilla extract instead, along...

So, are you putting the flavoring from spice barn into the secondary? Do you think that will wreck your head retention? It killed one of my other homebrews head when I put it in to test...Mine says butterscoth FLAVORING though, not extract...

    Harry Potter Butterbeer

I just noticed that the bottle I have says butterscotch flavoring, not extract...Where did you get yours from Capn? I put like three drops of mine in the boil, do you think my beer wont be able to hold a head?

    Harry Potter Butterbeer

Well...I added a 3 drops of the butterscotch extract I have to a bottle of homebrew that I had around just to see what it would taste like...It totally killed the beers head and tasted awful (I think because I used too much) Anyway, I need an extract that wont kill the beers head, you think the...

Those spices look quite nice...I might add some nutmeg to my beer in the secondary, maybe some sassafras as well...I got my extract from the link in this thread...It is realllly strong though, so I might re evaluate the amount that goes into my bottling bucket.
