    Bar build

I'm in the process of building a bar in my downstairs and had a couple questions. I'm going to purchase the following kegerator to install under the bar...

With the hurricane, what better to do than brew?

Did the same with my better bottle. Luckily I had just transferred my Belgian Triple to a secondary last weekend.

    Lessons learned from first brew

just had to figure out how to get that little piece of foam out of the bottom. Is it necessary to take that piece of foam out? If so, uh oh.

    Drinking from the bottle

Thanks for the input guys. I was just wondering why it seemed everybody talked about pouring their beer in a glass. As a noob to the homebrew scene, as far as the sediment goes, I couldn't see an advantage of drinking it out of a glass over directly from the bottle. Either way you're going to...

    Drinking from the bottle

The reason I ask, is because if I'm going out on, say a boat, I don't want to be carrying a glass around with me.

    Drinking from the bottle

I've read a lot on here about how to get the proper head on your beer when you pour it or how much to leave in the bottle when pouring your beer. Nowhere have I read about drinking straight from the bottle. Is this just not done with a homebrew?

Citrus to Secondary/Late Primary: Juice, Peel, or Both?

I'm also considering adding zest to a Belgian Tripel I brewed 3 weeks ago. I'm going to rack to a secondary this weekend, but didn't know how to go about adding the zest. Do I just dump it in after racking or should I put it in a muslin bag?

    My new favorite ball player

Here's a good story on a home brewer from an unlikely source. Just don't know how he wouldn't be able to have lagering equipment. I'm sure he could afford it. http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/story/_/id/6829972/brewing-company-makes-beer-flavored-mariners-maple-bats

    Samual Adams Noble Pils?

Usually a big fan of all the Sam Adams seasonals and specialties, but for some reason this one didn't take. To each his own, though.

    Emergency brewing question!

Yeah I'm starting to think that's the way to go, also. I've done a couple brews now that have hop additions at different intervals. The muslin bag tends to flip and turn during the boil twisting the strings all up. Makes it hard, and hot, trying to untwist the strings to add the other hops.

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

Yeah I did have a couple days where the temp raised up due to our air conditioner going out. Just happened to be the two hottest days of the year.

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

I was under the impression that a Hefeweizen was one that didn't take long to be ready. I know more time the better. Like I said, I was rushing these two beers on purpose so I could familiarize myself with the qualities of a "green" beer. I was really looking for answers as to whether these...

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

I wasn't so much testing the rule as much as I was trying to find out the reason behind the rules and the differences when you follow and don't follow those rules. I just don't have the experience yet to know if the differences between the two I drank were caused by not being conditioned enough...

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

I used the 5 oz packet of priming sugar that came with the kit. I followed the instructions for dissolving it and then poured half in my bottling bucket and racked on top of it. After half was racked I poured the rest in and racked the rest on top of that. Then I gave it a gentle stir.

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

I'm hoping for some feedback to see if the beer is ready to put in rotation or if I should leave it a little longer. Just a little backstory on the HB: Hanks's Hefeweizen from Midwest Supplies. Brewed June 25. Spent 2 weeks in primary and bottled on July 9. OG = 1.050. FG = 1.010. Yeast =...

    liquor store in north jersey

I don't know Bergen county too well, but I know up in the northern counties there is a chain called Bottle King. Become a club member for free and you get great discounts and they do have a great selection of beers. One of the few places in Jersey that I've found that carries all three labels of...

Looking to get a list of beer bars in Philly

Thanks guys. We're down by Ocean City, so we aren't totally unfamiliar with Philly, but most of our experience with heading for a night out mainly involves going to AC (usually where we wind up after getting nice and lathered up during our last few trips to Philly as well lol).

Looking to get a list of beer bars in Philly

I've beeen looking, and posting, about a couple beer bars in Philly. Namely Monk's and The Eulogy Bar. What I'm looking for is a few of the lesser known, but upper scale bars of the same ilk. The reason I'm asking is every year, instead of a christmas party, the owners of my company take us out...

    Atlantic City NJ- Best pubs???

Don't know if you're still in AC, but there is a bar in Tropicana in the quarter that is pretty good. I think it's called The Red Bar. It's a russian themed bar that has a vodka freezer and some really good russian beers. They have an ice strip that runs along the bar for you to set your beer on...
