A curious question regarding my heating element?

Hello everyone, I am very curious too find out the limitations of a heating element I got for $2. Searching around hasn't satisfied me. So the element is marked 208V and 2000W. This should be safe to operate in a RIMS tube? I intend to build 110V temp controller and would really like to...

    Lagering Question.

I'm looking at brewing on Thanksgiving weekend, then fermenting for a few weeks. I am more concerned for the fermentation temp than I am for the lagering temp. By mid to late December ambient temps should be in the forties, if not lower. Plus temps through January and February will get lower.

    Lagering Question.

So I am gearing up the nerve to do my first Lager beer. I believe I'll be able to hit the fermentation temp just fine. I am concerned with the lagering though. the temps in my garage have been in the low 50's, and it seems this will not change. I mean it's only going to get colder. But as far as...

    Kreuzberg beer

That looks pretty close to the real deal. To bad your flying blind. I can only say that when you pour a glass, and need another, your on the right track.

    Kreuzberg beer

If you can find Aktien Landbier, this is the closest example that comes to mind, it has similar qualities. Though it is lighter and watery by comparison.

It's a Bavarian Dunkel, but from the Franconia region. This beer is tasty! Very well balanced and you'll want to drink a lot of it.

Moving back to the States and...

I am in the Army and moving to Colorado. It will be hauled of in my household goods, and I will only have to pay an excise tax in Colorado. At .08 cents per gallon, its costing me around $4.00! Half the value is in the bottles and racks. 16 racks of beer has cost me less than $225.

    Fresh Hop Aroma

I Just had a Bottle of Chimay Speciale Cent Cinquante. It had a fresh hop aroma I have never experienced. I mean to say is the hop aroma was the same as when I open a package of hops. Now my queston is how can I make this happen. It's as if there are fresh hops in the bottle. The Chimay...

    When I opened the vial....

Well bleme, I am stationed in Germany and order online. Plus I was deployed when I ordered. And my wife just left the yeast in the box. It's an uphill battle, but the batch I did two weeks ago worked out just fine, and they were ordered at the same time.

    When I opened the vial....

Very cool! So my starter should work ok in the long run?

    When I opened the vial....

...More thab half shot out! I was making a 1 litre starter, and as I was pitching the yeast, it all but exploded. I admit I did agitate/shake the vial. I also let it sit after for nearly 15 mins. The strain is White Labs British Ale Yeast and the best before date was 3 JULY 2012. So I...
