    Cleaning copper for immersion chiller

I use a small submersible pump I bought from Harbor Freight, its like a fountain pump or something. Once the temp of my wort is around 150 or less I turn off and unhook the garden hose, stick that end into a cooler full of ice water, then attach my pump to the "exit" hose of my wort chiller and...

    Cleaning copper for immersion chiller

I know you are asking about the sink hook up, but I used a brass barbed garden hose adapter from home depot in the correct size for the tubing that is on my chiller. Could be an option, I leave the other side blank so I can plug it into a small submersable pump and cycle the water through an...

Stir Plate Wiring Help - Fan Speed Not Working

:mug: Mine was built completly out of parts from Radio Shack except for the power converter, magnets and sitr bar. It rang in around $50, probably could have built it cheaper, if I had an old PC laying around. (I still dont see how people build them for less than $20!) It was interesting...

Stir Plate Wiring Help - Fan Speed Not Working

Any clue why the speed would increase after a min? I would think it would go a constant speed with constant/same amount power being supplied? Did you try adjusting the distance between the fan and stir stick/flask?

Northern Brewer buckets or Yeast Choice.

Maybe you guys can shed some light on this. I recently purchased 2 NB buckets and lids as my primary fermenters. I have not used buckets in years to ferment in and cannot recall if they had a seal on the lid or not. The issue I have have is I am not sure if its the yeast or buckets not sealing...

Stir Plate Wiring Help - Fan Speed Not Working

I have no clue about wiring stuff up, maybe someone that does will chim in, but could be wired wrong? I had some issues wiring mine up but after a couple tries I got it right. It stirs the best with the power turned about a quater turn, once it gets started I can adjust the speed up but it...

    Simplest (?) Keggle Cutting Jig

Thats genius! I cut mine by hand with a dremel. It actually came out great, took about an hour+ to do though and around 10 large reinforced cutoff wheels.

    Recommended modern urinals & flushers?

Nice looking head! I have wanted a urinal in my house since we built it, I tried to get the builder to put one in but they didnt offer them so it was off the table. I have been scheming on putting one in but I think I am going to wait till we get a new place.

Necessary to use secondary with lagering

I do the same. To the orignal poster, I would say its extremly recomended to put your lager on gas as soon as its in the keg for two reasons, one is to seal the keg as it was mentioned above, not much CO2 is going to be given off during the lager process, probably not enough to seal the keg/ or...

    Brew Water calculations

Yeah my evaporation rate is usually what gets me some days I will lose a gallon others its more. I have not had any real issues in my final product though other than quanitity. My numbers are usually spot on with the software I do use.

    Brew Water calculations

I gave up on using software/calculations to determine how much water to use. When I followed instructions above or what beer smith would tell me I would usually end up with maybe around 4 gallons in the fermenter. I now start out with 8 gallons and usually end up with 4.5-5.5 gallons in the...

    Plastic S-Bubble Airlock

I have one with cap and the other with out a cap, no issues. I have had a brew or two bubble out the airlock and the nasty crap that was left over clogged the little vent holes. I dont think it was a big deal but removed it and cleaned it anyways. Worst case it would have clogged it enough and...

Flies with green bodies on brewing patio

They are probably attracted to the wort like you said, I have a huge problem with them when I brew in my garage. If you dont have pets in your yard they are probably coming from someone elses place/yard/garbage. Any farm land near by? If you have pets in your yard clean up the waste, you can...
