I made a yeast starter last night and wanted to step it up and didn't want to decant. If the vessel is large enough can I just add cooled wort into it without any ill affects? Or is it advised to decant? It was really old yeast that I wanted to take baby steps with so it's in a 4L flask and...
I'd assume so, gelatin, I think, bonds with yeast cells or something and makes them fall out. But if it doesn't the gelatin doesn't impact flavor or anything so you could always try it and see what happens.
I'm interested too about the heating. I'm in the process of starting up and I am just curious as to what you're using. I'm doing the 3 barrel set up from stout tanks and needed a heating source. Thanks for sharing too, this has been an inspiration for me.
