2015 New zealand/Aussie hops release in US

Harvest time in Southern Hemisphere is around April, right? When will we see 2015 Nelson or Galaxy for sale in the US, this year? Any rumors?

    Equinox and Exp 6277

Update: Equinox have this green, raw vegetable (think raw zucchini, celery), fresh herbs component that would work well with other hops like mosaic or simcoe. Exp 6277 are definitely NEW unique hops, but don't like them that much at the end. Intense, peppery, grassy, lemony, some...

    Equinox and Exp 6277

I did brew with both hops recently. Two west coast ipas, same recipe, hopped with 11 oz/5 G each of Equinox and Exp 6277. I have both on tap right now fully carbonated. I like Exp 6277 better. I like it a lot, actually. It's bright sweet lemon at first, with a nice fresh grass component. It...

Noble Showers Series - Can You Clone It?

Showers are awesome beers. Being hop forward beers, I wouldn't care about the malt bill too much and keep it simple. From the info they gave, I would guess 50% 2-row, 30% Pilsner, 10 % Golden Promise, 10% Sugar. Mash it low (147 for 75 minutes), make some adjustments to your water (can't help...

    Waimea Hops

I have just opened my first bottle of a Session IPA brewed with 8oz total waimea and mosaic hops. It's really dank, in the best possible way, I am very familiar with mosaic,Waimea reminds me a lot of Columbus hops, just fruitier and more intense. I have also brewed an IPA a few months back with...

    Grapefruit Sculpin clone?

Hey, I picked up very fresh bottles of the grapefruit sculpin at sunset beer company in LA last year (maybe October?) and one of the guys from Ballast Point was there promoting the beer. He told me it was just a regular sculpin with grapefruit zest added to it. He told me that many employees sat...

The million-dollar question about yeast starters

Thank you all for the replies and the precious information woodlandbrew. DurtyChemist I have pitched the washed yeast (from a couple of jars) NO starter in a beer before with good results, but on a batch a while ago I used yeast that was more than 3 months old, and it took forever to start and...

The million-dollar question about yeast starters

This is a picture of two jars containing both the same washed yeast from a batch I brewed with wlp007. I got 4 pint-jars out of the yeast cake. These are the two jars containing the most amount of yeast and the one containing the least amount of yeast. Now, I know you should (must) make a...

    Sour beer not souring??

Hello, I made a saison last month using Belle Saison dry yeast and Gigayeast fast souring lacto. I pitched them together at 74 and let them ferment at 78-80 for 5-6 weeks. I opened the fermenter after 10 days and there was definitely an infection going on, like a pellicle braking like ice would...

Forgot beer in the freezer, got clear beer.

Hi guys, a couple of days ago I wanted to have a bottle of my nice PM Imperial blonde a little extra chilled and decided to stick one in the freezer for 5 minutes. Of course, after five minutes, I went to the fridge and grabbed something else and completely forgot about that bottle in the...

    DIPA Help

Green Bullet is good for bittering, and so is comet. I would do green bullet at 60 or 90, comet at 30, rakau and motueka Hop Stand and 2oz Galaxy and Nelson dry hop. That should be fruity.

    Mosaic/Nelson Sauvin Pairing

I made a single hop Mosaic IIPA like 6 months ago and it was the best IIPA ever. I also made an APA and a Red Ale. All of them were delicious. Mosaic are very complex hops, they are piney, fruity, tropical, citrusy and dank, but in the best way. Also they always seem to change drastically over...

    Mosaic/Nelson Sauvin Pairing

I finally brewed this one. I simplified the malt bill a lot using only half pound of crystal 15 and both light dry and liquid extract and 3/4 lb of corn sugar. Hop schedule was the same. OG = 1.074, FG = 1.014 Man, it's fruity!! I like a lot Citra and Nelson together, I have never brewed with...

    Post your infection

Is this Brett?? please tell me I am wrong! Because I don't know what i did wrong. I opened the fermenter only once in three weeks and when I went bottling today I found this. The beer is a saison fermented with "Belle Saison" yeast and it smells and tastes great. I bottled it anyway. Should I...
