    Doing a brewing demonstration for all my co-workers today. I'll be serving cream of three crops and brewing a centennial blonde. Should be an interesting day. No pressure lol.

    Finally going to ask this

    I live in northern MT, and it gets very cold days here as well. Today was a high of -2 F. My solution is heat strike and sparge water on stove, mash in my kitchen, and full boil outside. I also do five gallon batches so my strike and sparge volumes are around 4 - 4.5 gallons. My stove top heats...

    Whats beers to start with

    I brewed up the caribou slobber kit today. I used 1 oz of goldings 4.6% at 60 min. Pitched roselare and dregs from Orval and St. Louis fond tradition kriek lambic. I also have a bottle of St. Louis fond tradition guezze and oud beersel I will be adding at some point. Now the waiting game...

    Did you purposely mash at 160? That's pretty high and leaves unfermentable sugars that yeast wont consume. I'm guessing that is the problem. Mashing high can also extract tannins as well. Edit: I see you already new this. Cheers.

    Racking Primary to Keg

    Why do you want to secondary/condition a pale ale? I primary mine for three weeks, keg, carbonate for 2-3 weeks and its usually perfect. I'm not one of those guys who say never secondary, but I don't find any benefit for a secondary of a pale ale. If its for clarity, I use whirlfloc but I'm...

    Yeast pitching experiment

    Some of the yeasts I've used in pales- s-05. Nottingham. Wlp-001. Wyeast 1056. I'm also going to try san Diego super yeast just haven't got around to it yet. All of these work well with pales.

    1 oz goldings 60 1 oz liberty 45 1 oz Willamette 15 Should put ibu at around 38 I do have an ounce of saaz that I have been aging for a month or so, I could use that instead and keep it down around 10
