    Can't drink anymore.

Well the doctor says I can't drink ANY alcohol anymore so I've got to get rid of a few things. I've got 2 chrome taps (1 self closing), 2 shanks, and 2 handles that I've never used. The shank in the image with the green handle is 4 1/2" and the shank with the black handle is 3 1/2". The...

I just received my copy of the hop lover's guide today, WOW!!! Full of recipes and information. I can see myself reading this cover to cover until the pages disintegrate. The recipes from DFH and SN are worth the price alone, then come the charts, from listing the high/low AA and BA to a...

    Water hardness test

I got some hardness test strips today to check my water. I have a 5 micron filter on my cold so I figured I'd test that first, well...... The strips only go as high as 425ppm, and I maxed it out, even with a filter. We're in a new subdivision, the house is only 1 year old, I expected to see...

    Sour smell

I just racked my session beer into a glass carboy and I noticed a real sour smell. I added 1.5oz of fresh orange peel with 10 mins left in the boil, my first time adding orange. Would that be the cause, or is it something like an infection? When I put the wort into the fermenter most of the...

    Blending Porter

Does anyone blend their porter? I am reading DGB and am quite interested in trying it. I may experiment in the fall with a batch aged in a 5L oak barrel through the winter and blend in the spring, bottle condition and ready for hot summer days.

    Designing Great Beers

I was thinking of getting DGB but I hear it's a bit dated. Is there a newer version or a similar book? I already have How to brew, Brewing for dummies, Clone Brews, and the joy of home brewing. I'd like to know how to design a beer and not just take a recipe and blindly modify it.
