    Desert Hackberry

Anyone try Desert Hackberries in their beer or know of anyone who has? They grow out here in AZ and have a sweet, almost strawberry like, flavor. Always looking to try something new

    Keg help

Just started kegging my beer. I have two kegs in a chest freezer, converting to keezer soon. Kegs are at 10 psi and have picnic taps on 8' 1/4" id tubes. All I'm getting is foam? Any suggestions? LHBS sold me picnic taps with 2' lines and said that was all I needed which didn't work. Upped to 8'...

    Lost a good one

Having a pint tonight in honor of Gregory Fretz, co owner/founder of Phoenix Ale Brewery here in AZ. Unfortunately he lost his battle with cancer this morning. He was a great ambassador for the Craft industry. Going to be missed

    Prayers for Boston

Sad to hear the news coming from Boston. Hits close to home since my wife is a marathon runner and ran Boston last year. She had friends running it this year who are safe but they haven't heard from friends/family waiting for them at the finish line. Thoughts and prayers go out to all involved

    I want to cry :smh:

I brewed up my first all grain batch today. Really excited about it, it's an IPA recipe a buddy created that is fantastic. Unfortunately it's an expensive beer $75. Just got finished brewing and was ready to pitch my yeast only to discover my thermometer somehow broke in my fermentation bucket...

Best way to clean a carboy

Have a couple of glass carboys and no matter how hard I scrub with the darn bottle brush I never seem to be able to get all the crud off the inside. Anyone have a good suggestion on a better way to clean them?

    Show us your pub sign

Just finished this up tonight. Think it turned out pretty good although there are a few small issues. Anyone else have their own "pub"/brewery sign?

    Drink Tickets

Hosting a large spring BBQ/Home Brew competition at my house this year (74-100 people). This is the first time we are doing it and I am a bit concerned with the possibility of people over indulging and then driving afterwards. Were going to have a "bar" where people will come to get drinks...

    Gnome Root Beer help

Use made up my first soda using a Gnome extract. Followed the directions as stated, except I added more of the extract than called for since it tasted pretty weak. Bottled everything into 12 PET bottles and have had them sitting on the counter for three days. I'm not getting any carbonation at...

    White Chocolate Ale

Sorry if anyone has covered this before, I didn't see anything when I searched. We have a craft brewery here in AZ that has a White Chocolate Ale that is fantastic. They say it's a wheat beer. I would love to try and brew something like that up but have never used white chocolate before. Any...

    Sample bottle tip

So I don't know if anyone else is like me but I hate opening a bottle of home brew as a "tester". I feel like I'm wasting a bottle if it's not quite done yet. Last year I came across single serving Brute Champaigne bottels at my local supermarket. I had a lightbulb moment and picked one up. They...

    Dumb newbie question

So I'm on my third brew and so far have just done extract brewing which I have enjoyed. I'm really just curious what the difference is between extract and all grain? I understand the difference in process, etc but what are the benefits of all grain, if any, over extract? Is mostly greater...

    Yeast issue?

Hey all, New to the thread and pretty new to home brewing, third brew is in the primary as we speak. This past Saturday I brewed up a Honey Steam Ale. About eight hours after placing it in the primary I noticed quite a bit of bubbling in the airlock which continued through Sunday (24 - 36...
