    Blichmann Beer Gun

I just got a Blichmann Beer Gun and I have a quick question. I'm planning on kegging and carbonating, then bottling as needed. How many bottles do you typically fill before capping them? Do you stop and cap after each bottle? I guess I'm not sure how quickly the carbonation in the beer will drop...

    Blichmann Beer Gun

Sorry for the repost. The server was having issues when I first tried. Apparently it posted while I was rewritting. I just got a Blichmann Beer Gun and I have a quick question. I'm planning on kegging and carbonating, then bottling as needed. How many bottles do you typically fill before...

successfully jumpstarting a stuck fermentation with pure O2

I read up on temp correction in refract and wasn't very impressed. They still need to be calibrated at the correct temp and the sample needs to be at least close to that temp. Wide variations in temp will still introduce errors. Also keep mind if you are brewing in very high or very low ambient...

And are you making sure your sample temp is close to 68f, and are you calibrating at that temp also? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Beginners system questions

I'm not sure what else your system has but really the only reason for using a false bottom in a BIAB system that I can see would be to keep the bag off of the bottom of the kettle so it won't scorch if you add heat for a step mash. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Kegerator temp?

If the inside thermometer is saying 34F and your controller is set for that general temp then my next thought is your wife needs to stop drinking yellow fizzy stuff at the corner bar advertising the coldest beer in town! 😄 Seriously, what is the temp of the beer in your glass? My keg...

    Kegerator temp?

Do you have a thermometer in the freezer? What is the actual temp? The Johnson controller usually works pretty well.... Is your freezer working? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    How long to clear

If I remember correctly that yeast is very slow to flocculate. Give it time, your best brewing friend! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Winter Brewing

Another thing to remember if you decide to move indoors for the winter is that there is no rule that says you have to brew 5 gallon batches. Winter is a great time to drop down to 2 - 3 gal batches and do some experimental brews. Play around with recipes and hop and yeast varieties without...

1st attempt at a AG Kolsch recipe

I've always used Jamil's recipe in Brewing Classic Styles. It's always been everybody's favorite. Do me a favor and post your recipe here, solbes. I'd like to see it to.

1st attempt at a AG Kolsch recipe

I'm not sure if the Honey malt would be correct. Kolsch should be clean and crisp and I think the homey malt might add a bit too much sweetness. But ... the only way to know is to try.

    Oxygen, flowrate question

All the above is well and good, but like I said, at some point you have to come to terms with it all can't be quantified (at a reasonable price). Or, you can go ahead and convince yourself that your calculated IBU numbers really mean a whole lot! :D

    Oxygen, flowrate question

So for those using an oxygen tank, how far open and for how long do you add the gas? Do you back it off until the bubbles just barely don't break the surface? The answer to that question is .... "just cracked open, no, all the way! ... 10 seconds, no 1 min, i mean 2 minutes! ... Bubble like...
