    Its good to be back!

member since 2007 but haven't brewed in many years. life came along and lost the desire to brew. after a couple of recent events i am need of some new therapy and one of the first things that came to mind was the excitement and enjoyment i got out of homebrewing. so it is good to be back!

brain/sponge looking stuff on top of beer

Doubt the krausen will fall to the bottom. Just bottled a pale ale that had been in the primary for three weeks with a thick krausen on top. Can't remember the yeast i used though. I see no problem with going ahead and bottling. Just my two cents.

Curious about some floating material I noticed after transferring to secondary...

Top picture looks like coagulated proteins. The bottom looks like it could be pieces of hops but not knowing if you used hop cones or pellets. Just guessing.

    What's your favorite Micro brewery.

OMG, was just there on Aug. 14th. Had their Snake River Pale Ale and Guido's Kolnerbrau. Very good especially Guido's. Also add Kettlehouse(Bongwater Pale Ale), Big Sky and Bayern(Dragon's Breath Dark Hefe) in Missoula and Lone Peak(Wit's End Belgian White and Headplant Pale Ale) in Big Sky.

155g of fresh Cascade hops picked today and to be used in a future brew. The good thing is there is probably 4 times that amount left to be picked in the near future!

Where should I go in Germany?

You will not get homesick while in Germany! I personally could not get enough of it in the two weeks that I was there. I actually dreaded coming back to the States.

    Alabama house passes Beer Law

I was in Vulcan Beverage today and he had just received a shipment of the new stuff. He needed an hour to get everything entered into his system so I left and came back and purchased many of the new beers that he received.

    High ABV beers in Alabama!

I could not get on Free the Hops web page either but I did email our "fine" governor urging him to sign the bill into law. All I can do now is cross my fingers.
