Vermont Beercation Weekend (give me tips!)

You can reference my original post, some has changed. Crop Brewpub is now where the Shed was, which is pretty good. I'd skip Magic Hat. Specifically for Stowe, The Bench (a bar/restaurant) and Crop are the two places I would say are must visits. Lost Nation is a new(ish) brewery that serves...

Kottbusser - A style deserving of revival!

Sub'd. The Zymurgy article peaked my interest in this beer. Planning on brewing the Zymurgy recipe in a month or 2.

Finally - a good "session" IPA

I've been planning on brewing something similar, 4.5% ish, and using Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo. Maybe hop bursting or just hop stand/whirlpool. sub'd.

    Alchemist Brewery Closed

The brewery is closed is to the general public due to a handful of reasons, traffic being one of them. It is fairly easy to get Heady Topper if that is what you are looking for (check their website). If you are looking for merch, I believe Prohibition Pig still sells the Alchemist stuff. A place...

    Heady topper

Sadly this has been the norm for a few yrs. It is getting better, especially with having no true 'release day' on his bottled beers. He is expanding so fast, but you still need to plan on waiting in a (usually fast moving) line; it is worth it tho. If you are in Burlington/Winooski(on Friday)...

Breweries/ Local brews to try in Seattle and Portland?

No mention of Hair of the Dog? Well that is the #1 place in Portland imo. Cascade being #2. Deschutes would be a must too imo. Rogue was kinda cool as they had a few beers you can't get bottled (at least when I was there).

    Heady topper

It really isn't that hard to get Heady. It is really hard to get a case of Heady. The only thing that makes it hard is if you are just in the area for a day, and that day doesn't correspond to the area you are in. HeadySpotter is another good resource, but the Alchemist website has all the...

    Hill Famstead Abner Clone

I'm in Johnson, good to see other Vermonters here! I was planning on making this pretty soon. The two things I'd add to the conversation is that 1. From what I've seen/been told, Shaun is not very forth coming with information. His idea is that you brew a lot and just figure it out...

    Heady topper?

Barre wouldn't be too far. But in general Heady sells out the same day it is delivered, at least at Hunger Mountain. Some of the other places take a day or two. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    AHS Reviews

I've purchased quite a few kits from them and had good results with every single one. Some better than others, but that may be personal taste. I have noticed that some reviews have disappeared. In particular I can think of 2, one complaining a beer came out too sweet because the person added in...

    Had my first Heady Topper

They just introduced a growler program, which their Donovan Red was released. Although, now that the Cannery has been closed to the public that program is on hold. The Alchemist use to be a brewpub but in 2011 Hurriance Irene destoryed it. Lucky they had just finished building the Cannery right...

    Had my first Heady Topper

The Alchemist Brewpub use to be my local go to spot, and I have to say, Heady isn't even the best beer they made. Maybe not even in the top 5 of what he put out there. It wouldn't be hard to argue that Heady isn't the best DIPA coming out of Vermont, with HF Abner(and Double Citra/Galaxy...

    Let's Talk about Session Beers!!!

I'm a big fan of session beers. Austin Homebrew has a line of kits that are specifically designed for Session beers - I think most come out to 3.9%. I've made their Brown Porter and Am Brown a couple of times each, and they are very tasty. Not blow you away, but I don't think you would say they...

The Alchemist is closing its tasting room!!!

Celia hasn't been on tap for a very long time. They sold off the 'brand' too, not too long ago. Heady has [almost] always (at least since the cannery opened) been on tap at Hen of the Wood. Growler program is on hold, but they said to 'hold on to your growlers'.
