    Thanks! The hole was not quite as gnarly as the picture made it look. There was significant unevenness but it was t really bent at all. I got the neoprene washers from Ace Hardware.

    The website says the grip is silicone, which I believe is stable and non-reactive up to 300C, so hoping I’m good.

    Trying to make a dip tube out of what I have. Anyone know if I can use the Blichmann Quick Connection inside the brew kettle? Pretty sure it’s stainless, just can’t find anything on the temperature dance of the rubber part. Any thoughts?

    Black neoprene washer and two stainless flat washers. Test run with boiling water. No leaks. Trimmed the neoprene washer down after installing. Thanks everyone for the input!

    Thanks. Last thing. Any recommendations on where to find appropriate size o-rings and stainless washers and nuts? I checked at the local Home Depot with no success. Maybe Ace Hardware?

    Saving a brew kettle

    Help. Inherited a brew kettle, but it leaked. Upon inspection it seems a badly drilled hole is the culprit. Valve is 3/4 inch. I’m wondering if I can fix this by increasing the hole size to 1 inch and buying a larger valve. Any thoughts?

    Filtering your beer gun?

    Gravity - thanks for chiming in. My concern is that there will still be floaters in the bottle, which might knock it down a point or two. Mostly it's my perfectionism setting in. Trying to salvage my sanity more than anything else.

    I dry hopped an IPA with pellets and despite cold crashing for 3 days at 34 F and letting natural rise carbonate for 3 weeks, I still have lots of hop matter floating around when I pour a pint. I'm wanting to bottle for a competition on the next 72 hours. I was thinking of putting some cheese...
