March 815 ss flow issue (primes fine)

Thanks! To do it again, I would definitely cut the hole for the magnet as you suggest. It wasn't that hard to monkey with the magnet though after you told me how to set it.

    New Temperature Controller

Yes, and I like it a lot. Yes it does have an anti-short (compressor delay) function. You can download the manual on the product page to look at all the features. I have mine set to 1 degree over and under desired temp, and 1 degree differential. So for a 65 degree ale, it ranges 63-67. I...

HLT herms coil doubled as wert chiller?

Took about 5-6 minutes to go from boil to 140 if I remember right. Another 5-6 to get under 110. I think we hit 85 around 16-17 minutes total. I've changed up a lot of things with our set up and will be doing a test run this week hopefully. Our tap water is very cold and with the ice mixed in...

March 815 ss flow issue (primes fine)

I owe it to Walter to put up a few pictures. I adjusted the magnets forward and boy do those pumps move some water. 9 gallons in 65 seconds on Pump 1 (camlock qd), 68 seconds on Pump 2 (ball bearing style qd). Much better than 3-4 minutes with the valves closed half way. So the toolbox is...

HLT herms coil doubled as wert chiller?

I do it (25 ft 1/2" stainless). Not quite as fast as my old IC (50 ft 3/8" copper) but also one less piece of equipment. I fill HLT with cold water and ice cubes. This is only 6.5 gal of wort though.

March 815 ss flow issue (primes fine)

Had a lengthy chat with Walter at March. I can't praise him enough for his knowledge and patience. So the magnet sits on the magnet shaft at a precise location relative to yhe pump head and impeller. I removed it to get it through the pump box wall. By removing it and just putting it back on I...

March 815 ss flow issue (primes fine)

This is the stainless head with 3/4" center inlet. For a year now, the pump primes fine and will pump with ball valve 0-60% open. Any more than that and the water stops moving. I have the same qd's as Kal, same pump, silicone hoses, but the only difference is it is mounted in a toolbox sitting...

    Perlick 525 SS faucet leaks

Well I read through this whole thread. Went to look at the mentioned VentMatic and find this. Sounds very similar to the Perlick issue. "NOTICE: VERSION CHANGE - 2013/10/15 We are now on "VentMatic 1.1". There has been a front seal change. If you have purchased a VentMatic faucet before...

I second that request. I would love to see these images.

    Bayou Classic False Bottom

Did you contact the seller and/or BC? These pots are brewing specific. I have the 10g version and can say it holds grain no problem. I think I've seen others say the same about the 15g.

    Rutland area homebrewers

Ha! I thought about buying it when it went up for sale to turn into a brew pub. Problem was I was still new to brewing.

    Rutland area homebrewers

There was a place that opened in Brandon but quickly closed. They had a ton of malt. I have used Brewfest a few times but the last time I got grain there, my 10# sacks of Marris Otter only weighed 8.75 & 9.25 lbs. @$2.20/lb. that's a good chuck of change.

    Auber 2 stage frig controller?

I had intended to build my own frig controller but work too many hours lately. Just tapped out last beer and just want to get brewing asap. Anyone here try the Auber 2 stage controller? Would be nice to have for Winter too.

Help Me decide on which pump - March 815 or Chugger SS

The March stainless heads are made in the USA I believe. I have received amazing customer service from March, so they will get my business. I also understand the dealer for Chugger is a real stand up guy too. I think this is a win-win regardless of which you choose.

Q about the Camco ULWD elements

They can rust in a short amount of time too. Just thought I'd add that as it gets incorrectly mentioned frequently that it takes an extended period. My element develops rust after just a few minutes of water exposure. Fixed with food grade silicone. I have found a few all stainless elements but...

    Milling question

Sorry I forget most people think of chain style stores when they think of auto parts. (Or anything else) All of the local parts shops around here in VT have feeler gauges. They are as good as the ones in Sears. Cost about $6.
