    What's wrong with my beer?

If your SG is OK you might try to dry hop it that should off set the sweetness. Nothing gained nothing lost.

    Dry Hopping and floaters

I used pellet hops in both the boil as well as dry hopping. 1 oz of Centennial at 60, 30, 5 and then dry hopped after 1 week in the secondary. The floaters had all settled within 2 inches of the top of the beer and looked like very small leaves. They have settled out since dry hopping. Now I...

    Dry Hopping and floaters

My third brew is a Triple Hearted IPA which I racked to the secondary and let it set for a week. After which I noticed that it had lots of floaters that settled within the top 2 inches. This is the first time that I just dumped my hops into the boiling wort without first putting them in a bag...

    Fidgety New Brewer

When I recently finished my first brew, a porter, I just had to give it a taste and it wasn’t very pleasant. I was sure that I had screwed it up somehow and asked the board what they all thought. I was told to just leave it alone and all would be good. Well last night I finished my kegerator and...

    Dancing in the streets

Brew #2 went into the secondary this morning. It’s inspired somewhat by Oberon. Anyway when I cracked open the primary I was struck by this wonderful smell of orange. I just can’t describe it, other than true love. I racked it to the secondary and the wait continues. I did have to sneak just...

    Will this really work?

I was at a home brew supply store in Grand Rapids today and picked up some supplies to make an Oberon clone. While I was grinding my grains at one of their mills the clerk went to the cooler to get my hops and yeast. When I got home (a near three hour drive later) I found that they and mixed up...

OK so all I have to do is let it sit in the keg at say 60 to 65 degrees for a couple of months and I should be OK....Right? You all are a God send.

    Oh No!!! maybe

I just racked my first brew (a porter) to a keg after a week in the primary and thought I would give it a taste to see how I was doing. I knew it would be flat and it wouldn't be much to the taste buds yet but I'm afraid something has gone wrong. I can taste the porter but there is no body and...

Plastic Carboy OK for a secondary?

Thank you all so much, you just saved me from a big mistake. I'm going to go with glass carboys for my secondary. Thanks again

Plastic Carboy OK for a secondary?

We have 5 or 6 plastic 5 gal. water bottles at work that they "just want to get rid of". Is there any reason that I can't use them for a secondary? I have a couple of airlocks that should work.

First timer, Am I doing this right?

Hi all, I’ve been reading all of your posts for a while and I think I’m starting to get an idea how to brew a simple batch. So here goes my first post. I’ve started off with a Ponderosa Porter that came with the kit that I got for Christmas (something I asked for). I followed the...
