Darn, The seals shot on my new brew bucket

I'd be willing to bet that the internal pressure from the fermentation will keep out any nasty things. RDWHAHB

    BeerTools Pro- Gold membership?

I'm not a Gold member, nor would I want to be. I "thought" the only advantage to being a gold member was the ability to upload your recipes to the web site. I have BTP and have used it for a year and it's not bad. However with that said I have started to try out Beersmith and think that I...

How much do you loose during boil when it's cold outside?

You'd think I would remember from last year! But I guess I must have had too many homebrews! :drunk:

How much do you loose during boil when it's cold outside?

Yeah now not only do we need to be chemists and biologists but we have to be meteorologists too! :drunk:

How much do you loose during boil when it's cold outside?

You know I 'would' boil the 7.5 - 8.0 gallons, however I only have a 7.5 gallon pot and I suspect that I would not have enough head space ;-) Hence the collection into another pot. Well at least know that I'm not a complete idiot. So do you think that the Yooperchick approach would work...

How much do you loose during boil when it's cold outside?

I have done several AG batches and have never really had much of an issue with this . So either I had a MAJOR brain cramp or I lost more during the boil than I had expected. I ended up with around 4 Gal after my 60 minute boil. The temp was around 20° F. I swore I had around 6-6.5 Gallons...

    BeerTools Pro Question

In the middle window of the application in the upper right there is a drop down. Usually it defaults to Ingredients. Just click on the drop down and select Schedule. You will need to set-up your MT and stuff first. I believe that if you poke around on the BTP forum there is a Wiki that you...

    Stout - issues

What exactly were you using to boil your wort? It sounded like you were outside so I have to assume that you were using some kind of propane burner. I use a Bayou Classic that I picked up at Home Depot for $45 and it was the entire fryer kit and I have never had any problems bringing my wort...

    manifold question

Just one side as stated above. You want your holes at the lowest part of the tun. That way you can pull as much wort as possible.

    manifold question

I drilled mine, used a cordless. Kind of a pain but not much of a big deal. I soldered at the 4 elbows, allowing the middle pipes to be removed for cleaning.

    Hey! Thanks Veterans!

As a veteran, who is married to a veteran, who is the son of a veteran, who is the son-in-law of a veteran and who is a nephew of a veteran I want to say that it does mean a lot to hear a simple "Thanks". My son and daughter's school put on a "Salute to our Veterans" show on Friday and it put...

    Yankee Ingenuity V, anyone?

I'm still planning on attending. I was hoping to be up there around 9:00 if that's OK? I'd like to mash and get things done by early afternoon. Who all is planning on going to the Club meeting at Brew Works on Friday? I'll be there.

    So Confused , Please help

If I'm not mistaken Saaz is a hop, therefore you would be adding more hops to secondary, this is called "Dry Hopping". Typically secondary is for letting you beer settle out, therefore clearing it. Some beers do not really require this, Wheat beers for example. Sometimes when your beer is...

    Aeration Question?

I use a paint mixer attached to my cordless drill. Run that sucker for a few minutes and your good to go. Just sanitize it before you use it.

I should be up for it.

Homebrew club forming in Pittsfield, MA

I'd be up for the 11th. I should be ready to brew another IPA by then. Yeah good turnout. A LOT more than I expected. I am also courious as to what it will lead to, but I hope it turns out to be good. I think that a little quieter place and more structure would be good.

    Looking for inexpensive aeration kit

I use a paint mixer attached to a cordless drill and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact I had bubbling 4 hours after pitching with my Oatmeal Stout this past weekend.
