Help with first all grain batch

Sounds easy enough mongoose. I know my LHBS has all that except maybe the yeast. Sometimes they run a little lean on the yeast selection. I'll give it a shot soon. Should have all my equipment in by the first of next week so I'll update how it goes.

Help with first all grain batch

Definitely liquid yeast with a starter. This article (https://www.homebrewsupply.com/learn/all-grain-brew-day-crush-pitch.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=article&utm_medium=post) also gave me the idea of a CA Common. Seemed simple enough but wanted to see if the more experienced on here...

Help with first all grain batch

I've thought about that but I guess my question should have been more towards what type of beer. I've done my homework so I'm confident in the process, but wondered if one type of beer would be better than others to give a good starting point to knowing my efficiency.

Help with first all grain batch

I've been brewing extract for a few years. Finally the finances aligned and I'm making the jump to all-grain. I need help picking out my first recipe. Not having any idea what the efficiency of my equipment is, what would be a good recipe that isn't too complicated that will give me a good...

    Help me choose a burner

Thanks for all the input! I figured there would be a slight preference for Blichmann but I wasn't expecting such a landslide. I think I will go with the Blichmann. I'll post pics once it arrives!

    Help me choose a burner

I have been doing extract kits for a while and have been working towards going all-grain. I have a keggle ready for the larger boil volumes, but now I finally put it on my old turkey fryer burner only to find out that it doesn't fit. Soooo....... I need a new burner. My first thought is to...

    Beersmith and New Belgium

I just downloaded the trial of Beersmith and to practice with entering recipes I decided to pull out the December BYO and enter the New Belgium recipes. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm trying to match up the ingredients as best as I possibly can with what is already loaded in...

Project Box for DIY Stir Plate

Being an IT guy I'm sure you have plenty of power supplies laying around. Open it up, take the board out and replace with needed circuit. If you have the kind that has a fan on the large side then your fan is already mounted in the right place. You even have the benefit of already having an...

    Miller Lite Home Draft Dissected

I'd love to tinker with one of these things but I still haven't seen any around here. Anyone in the North GA / SE Tenn area know where they're available?

    Carbing Apfelwein

I have a batch that I am wanting to bottle this evening. I want to try a couple of bottles carbed this time. I am planning on using some 32 oz swingtop bottles and using some Muntons Carb tablets. My question is, how many tablets should I use for a 32 oz bottle? It suggests 4 per 12 oz...

My "Never getting to brew" Rant

Wow! I'm surprised at how many of us are in the same situation. I have two kids under 2 also. My youngest was just born at the beginning of April. Brewing time does seem to get worked in but like many others, it has gotten moved to being a 3rd shift hobby...

    Wine Rack Plans???

I would like to build a very simple wine rack. I've seen the boxes with dividers in them but it gets difficult when you start introducing champagne or belgian or other odd shaped bottles. I'm looking for some simple dimensions for something like this. Another reason I am liking this...

    Favorite Bottle to Recycle?

Have you tried this on Red Stripe bottles? How long does it take for the screen printed bottles you have done?

    Scuba Bottle for CO2

That makes sense. Now I know how the testing is done. Thanks for the info!

    Scuba Bottle for CO2

I don't know for sure that it would have to be retested. I was just going off what my SCUBA buddy said assuming he knew what he was talking about. I figured they did the testing with the valve as well so it would go through the test also.

    Scuba Bottle for CO2

I checked into this myself a month or so ago. Talking with a buddy that runs a SCUBA shop he said basically the same thing you came up with. First you would have to change out the valve and then you would also have to have it re-certified before anyone would fill it. Both of those together...

Wildwest's brew lean-to (my almost dream build)

I never realized how close I am to Sparta. I'm just down the road in Chattanooga. Let me know when it's done and I'll come help you break it in!
