    Counter flow chiller upgrade

There's caps on it. The top one is there. The bottom on is behind where the refrigerant goes in. The inner tube is completely surrounded by -40° refrigerant. Also this wouldn't be used for a wort chiller. It would have to be used with glycol to keep beer lines cold over a long distance. The wort...

    Counter flow chiller upgrade

I take it none of you are impressed. If I don't have much going on tomorrow I'll fire it up and take another pic.

    Counter flow chiller upgrade

Here it is in all it's glory, not pretty by any means but I just threw it together.

    Counter flow chiller upgrade

I'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow. It's not a looker by any means lol. I evacuated the system, removed the evaporator, and brazed on the heat exchanger. I didn't measure the amount of refrigerant, I charged by superheat. It uses a cap tube. A txv would give you more control.

    Condensation problems

Put a dollar in the seal, shut the door, and pull it out. It should be somewhat hard to pull out. Do that around the whole door, and it will tell you where your seal isn't sealing.

    Counter flow chiller upgrade

That's the sloppy way to do it. The proper way it to remove the evaporator and install a tube in tube heat exchanger or plate heat exchanger. I have one sitting in my garage that I made that cools down to -40. Of course it could be regulated to be warmer than that.

Need some advice on moving CO2 tank outside the keezer

You could countersink it a little with a forstner bit, they cut flat. That would give you room for the washer.

Need some advice on moving CO2 tank outside the keezer

Hop on TS sometime. You only need one bulkhead if you want to use that. Personally I would just run the hose through the collar and seal it. Is the regulator on the tank your only regulator right now? Or do you have a manifold with a regulator on it too?

Bucket for a wide body keg

Does anyone make a container big enough for a wide body sanke keg? I need to get one on ice. Insulated would be nice.

    10 gallon batch question

Kegged it last night. I took a sample, starting gravity was 1.054, and final gravity was 1.004. At 6.5% that's the highest percentage beer I've brewed to date. It was also the best tasting sample I've had.

    10 gallon batch question

Short answer, a keggle and an Edelmetall burner. This is my first 10 gallon batch, and my first all grain batch. I had to use two separate fermenters because all I have is buckets and carboys. I plan on either fermenting in a sanke keg or speidel fermenter later on. This is also the first time...

    10 gallon batch question

I did my first 10 gallon batch a couple weeks ago. I figured in extra water for boil off but I didn't account for the water that the grain was going to absorb. The target gravity was supposed to be 1.4 something. I ended up with only about 8 gallons and 1.055 gravity. I'm going to be putting it...

How is Beersmith different than Brewzor Calculator? I just have the later on my phone.

    Chiller question for you guys

Why do you all just put the evaporator in a cooler filled with coolant? You need something else to circulate the coolant. Why not just remove the evaporator and install a tube in tube heat exchanger? It's not that hard. I have one sitting in my garage.
