Another "Did I Screw Up" Thread

Relax. You are fine. Sounds like a totally normal fermentation. Airlock activity usually stop after a few days. The yeast are still working though. Just leave it for a few weeks to clean up. No need to do anything other than try to keep the temperature at a Constant temperature. Remember airlock...

    Help! What's in my wort?

I thought so too, and I guess it is however; it has stayed the entire 90 minute boil and has only gotten worse. Is this common? I have never had this happen before.

5 pounds of grain in 10 gal Rubbermaid MLT

Yes, use the 10 gallon MLT. I've had no issues at all with heat loss due to large head space. Make sure to pre-heat mash tun and your good to go. I make 5 gallon session beers in mine all the time and lose less than 1 degree in 60 minutes.

Making my way to Great Lakes Brewing and Southern Tier

I haven't been to market garden myself. Thanks for suggesting it, i think I will make the short trek up from sunny medina and check them out. Also $6 a beer is quite high for my taste too, thats why i brew my own, i can't afford some of these beers anymore. Cheers.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Make sure you mix the priming sugar well into the wort without oxygenating it. When I used to bottle I noticed this same problem when I did not swirl the wort and priming sugar very lightly with the racking cane to combine when in the bottling bucket. This could be your problem. ;)

Anyone have a Chocolate Porter recipe

For what it's worth, I've brewed Jamil's brown porter from brewing classic styles a couple of times and it has a lot of chocolate flavor. It is also a really good porter. The recipe should be available online, i'm not sure if I can post it here.

Will a 5 gallon MLT be sufficient?

To the op. I would definately go with the 10 gallon mlt. I own and have used both a 5 gallon and a 10 gallon mlt. I rarely if ever use my 5 gallon anymore. With the 5 gal tun I was always at the top of the tun when mashing and often was not able to do a mash out or just raise temp because of...

    Efficiency numbers, I'm confused

I may be over simplifying, but I believe your problem is your wort was not mixed well (first runnings and second runnings) giving you a higher pre boil reading. I have seen this before. The accurate number is your post boil reading in this case.

How to brew with Fresh pumpkin?

Brewed a pumpkin ale about 5 weeks ago. Look for pumpkins called "pie pumpkins" or "baking pumpkins". Scoop out the pulp and seeds. Cut into large pieces and sprinkle with cinnamon and allspice ( optional). Place on cookie sheet in 350* oven 1-11/2 hours or until pumpkin is soft and slightly...
