    Kegging mishap w/starsan

So you had a 1/4 oz of straight undiluted starsan in the keg you put the beer in? I would definitely check the warning labels. I know diluted starsan residue and bubbles left are just fine, but I'm not sure about having much more in the keg. Better just check the labels and maybe the starsan...

American Wheat Beer Sterling Gold (3.5% AG, Light and Zesty)

Brewing up some Centennial Blonde right now. Next week I will be brewing the Sterling Gold! Clearly I love me some BM recipes. Brewing these two beers up to be served at my wedding shower! The masses always love BM's recipes too. Can't go wrong. I have one question though. One the spices do you...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

So I've picked everything up to make this and I'm discovering some things. The fittings will only screw together half way. I've read this may be a feature of the threads being tapered. Which makes sense but threw me for a loop. Anyone else have this issue? Like half the threads still showing...

    online suppliers

I will throw out a recommendation for Austin Homebrew. I've ordered from them online and been to their store. Great people, great products, great service.

    11/11/11 - What's your brew?

Next Friday is 11/11/11. It also happens to be Veteran's Day. What are you brewing on this rare date and what are you calling it?

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

So who has actually used this recipe and had good results by using a traditional Oktoberfest Lager yeast? We have plenty of time to brew a 10 gallon split batch and one of us will be using an Oktoberfest lager yeast and one will be using an ale yeast. Figured a recipe close to this might be a...

    Oktoberfest Lager and Ale Questions

So a buddy and I are trying to formulate a recipe to do a 10-gallon batch of an Oktoberfest. The issue is that he will be traditionally lagering his and since I don't have the capability to lager I wanted to just ferment it as an ale. We also figured this might create an interesting opportunity...

You know brewing is in your blood when...

I knew I was a homebrewer when I went to take a shower the other day and had to empty and rinse a carboy before showering myself.

Things that have fallen in your beer !

My very first beer had some fall leaves blow into it. That beer became my Brown Leaf Wheat and it was tasty. I was brewing with some buddies and one guy decided it would be a good idea to just drop the entire yeast vial into the carboy. It was an accident but good for a laugh. Moments like...

    Summer Commercial Beers

YES! :mug: Hoping we close it out in 4 tonight! As for summer beers, since nobody has mentioned a homebrew, how about Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde? That's about as ideal for summer as you can get! Yeah, forgot the topic was commercial beers... So how about St. Arnold's Lawnmower, Real Ale...

Light lime beer, have you mastered a good recipe?

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/ That's a link to BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde Ale. That is an outstanding light ale that is very very lager-like. My homebrewing friends really felt like it was a lager. Use that recipe and add some lime...

    Tallgrass Brewery

Big fan of Tallgrass. Glad we get them here in OKC. I definitely like their Kold for a "gameday" kind of beer. Oasis is pretty amazing as well. I just love how some of these smaller brewers are really embracing the cans. Our local COOP Aleworks puts their beers in cans as well, and it's just...

    Favorite Type Beer

I'm on a big Porter kick as well! Bridgeport's Cafe Negro Porter and Deschutes Black Butte Porter are two of my favorites right now. My absolute favorite is from a local Oklahoma brewer, COOP Aleworks GranSport Porter. It's amazing, but hard to find on tap around here. I'm also a little...

    American Craft Bitters?

Avery has an ESB that I quite enjoy, although it reminds me more of an American Style IPA. Bridgeport also has an ESB, but I'm convinced I had a bad bottle of it. It was not very good. I'm willing to give it another try. And Ska Brewing out of Durango, CO has a nice ESB in a can.

After fermenting what is the yeast cleaning up?

After the yeast have gorged themselves on sugar and puked all over the place they go back and eat their puke. It's sort of like going to the Chinese buffet when you are super hungover.

    Porter = Ice Coffee

I recently went to a local brewery's anniversary party. They had a "Randall the Enamel Animal" built up that they filled with coffee beans and ran their Porter through it. It was like drinking an iced latte. It was pretty amazing. I wouldn't want more than about 8oz. of it though. The...

    Porter Help

I left my Porter in the primary for 4 weeks. Bottled it and it was drinkable in less than a week. Just had some more this weekend, it's been in the bottles about 2 weeks, it's drinkable and good. Not perfect and could use some time in the bottles but it's good. I would let it sit in the...

    Oxygenation vs. aeration

Why do you introduce the oxygen right before pitching the yeast as opposed to immediately after pitching the yeast? Does it really matter at all? And would it make a different if you were pitching dry yeast? Or a starter?
