    Belgian Golden Strong suggestions?

    Apparently the above message double-posted.

    Belgian Golden Strong suggestions?

6.6 lbs. LME (included with kit) 2# DME (included with kit) 1# Soft Candi 3# Honey 6 oz biscuit malt, 6 oz munich The primary fermentation was explosive and long. Very exciting. I let it sit for a while in secondary, finally got it kegged about 3 weeks ago. FG of around 10-11%, and still sweet...

    Oak Aging Staves Kit

I was thinking about the bourbon idea. You just convinced me. I'll let you know how it comes out. How long do you think I should keep it in?

    Oak Aging Staves Kit

Has anyone used one of these kits? I happened upon a W&P Barrel Aging Kit on clearance for $3 at TJ Maxx. It's marketed for distilled liquors, but I thought it might be something I could use in a 750 of home brew. I was thinking of using it in a swing-top 750, probably after...

    Belgian Golden Strong suggestions?

Say I added corn sugar during fermentation. Do I just add it straight, or do I boil it in some water first?

    Belgian Golden Strong suggestions?

Thanks for all of the feedback and suggestions. I have made this once before, strictly by the kit, using Wyeast Belgian Ardennes #3522 smack pack, which I plan to use again. Based on the suggestions, here is what I am thinking: 6.6 lbs. LME (included with kit) 2# DME (included with kit) 1#...

    Belgian Golden Strong suggestions?

I've got a kit from Grape and Granary that I've enjoyed in the past. Here's the bill: 6.6 lbs Pilsen Extract 1 lb. Extra light DME 2 lbs. Corn sugar How, if at all, would this improve if I replaced the corn sugar with Belgian candi sugar? Any other ideas? It hit 7.75% last time...

That certainly answers my question. :)

I can get two of these, at $20 each. Deal? Assuming they in good condition, of course.

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

@ Brewer3401 "Maintenance pressure" helps me to understand this much better. Thank you. So my suspicions were correct about equillibrating pressures. @ Bobby M Is there a happy medium or suggested way to handle this? My understanding is that if I dispense at the higher/maintenance pressure...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

Perhaps this question has already been answered, but something is nagging at me. If I carb at a certain level, then lower the pressure for serving, wouldn't the carbonation/co2 volume eventually drop to match the serving pressure? And if so, how much of a difference would one be able to...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

I just used a small, four-inch fan that I picked up in the automotive section (which is where all of their fans are stocked). It was $6.99, runs on AC, and get plugged into the same receptacle that runs the keezer, so it runs when the keezer runs.

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

Same here. And now the controller is used for the fan as well, so that's not running 24/7.

    Keezer-Build Fan recommendation

I found a great little fan at Target yesterday. It was only $6.99, all-steel frame, and measured 5 1/2 inches in diameter. It can be aimed straight up for ideal cold-air circulation. I can't find it online, but it's in that Auto/Hardware section with all of the other fans. It finally...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

That's it! I have the same one, and mine had tape over the hole too. I've got it at 44 F, and I'm going to turn it ccw about half-a-turn until I get a consistent 40 F.

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

I've got the same one Pull the controller off of the panel by squeezing together the supports that hold it in place. Now look at the side that was facing the panel. There is a tiny screw, set back in a hole, that is on the opposite side from the cylindrical piece that is attached to the...

I just finished my aquarium temp controller about 10 minutes before I found this thread. Seriously.
