    help with AHS Anniversary IPA

Just tried mine after two weeks carbing - it's awesome! I was flying blind on this one, so I'm really happy with the results. Calling it my No No No IPA. (No recipe, No hyrometer, No worries!) I did the crystal malt, and liquid extract per directions. As I mentioned previously, I added 1 oz...

    help with AHS Anniversary IPA

Bottled mine on the 16th - I'll report back when it's drinking time. Mike - very curious how that Greenbelt yeast turns out. It's on my list of ones to try soon.

    help with AHS Anniversary IPA

Mine just went to the secondary last night as well, after close to 3 weeks in the primary. It's dry hopping with 2 oz of citra.

    help with AHS Anniversary IPA

ENS: the kit does come with an oz to dry hop, so I think you'll be good. I'm a hophead which is why I added so many extras to mine.

    help with AHS Anniversary IPA

I got the same kit, but spiced it up a bit. Didn't enter anything into beersmith, and my hydro is broke, so I'm flying blind on it. but I was trying to up it more to an IIPA. Added 1 oz of each: Newport at 60, 50; Columbus at 45; Falconers Flight at at 14, 13, 10; Cascade at 3. I have some...

    How's my lager going?

I have a temp regulator for my garage fridge - if you can spare the 40 or 50 or whatever, it's worth it. but I brewed a lager this winter and the ambient air was colder than the garage, so I went with the carboy in a tub of cold water. That seemed to work just fine at keeping a colder temp...

    How long is primary?

I usually leave all mine in the primary at least three weeks - no secondary. everyone has turned out tasty. the last lager I did I didn't have proper temp control - left it at around 60 for a few weeks, then out in the garage during winter for another month. so two months in the primary, and...

    Lagering - Fridge in Garage

yeah, that's what I was afraid of and what I thought I remembered reading. Just wanted to double-check! Many thanks, as always!

    Lagering - Fridge in Garage

Folks - I'm sure this is probably on this board somewhere, but with a 1 year old moving around, I unfortunately don't have the time to search the threads. I'm doing my first lager - a bock. It started fermenting overnight some time. I just moved it to the fridge in my garage and with my...

    Cooling the wort

Thanks for this. I throw my water in the freezer too so this helps a lot.

    English Ale - First Look!

Does anyone else do this? I just drink my samples (some, if not all, of it) so I can get an idea of the taste, etc before carbonation.

Best way to keep the yeasty smell out of the house?

Funny, I was told exactly the same thing from my wife today. So I made her take a big whiff of some hop pellets. :) Luckily it was cool enough outside that I could crack some windows and have the breeze take away the brewery smell a bit.

Gravity reading too high after 2 weeks

I was following a Williams stout kit, so can tell you much about the ingredients since they don't want to disclose that info. The temp was right on the whole time since I have a temp control system for my freezer - it was sitting at 68. Yeast was a Wyeast Irish Ale liquid. The smack pack had...

Gravity reading too high after 2 weeks

I'm brewing a stout and the final gravity should be 1.021 or less. I'm two weeks in and the gravity reading is at 1.031. I did a reading a few days before this one and it was the same (at that point I gently stirred it up a bit). Stupidly (it was my first brew) I didn't get an OG reading, nor...

How to make a yeast starter - Pictorial

How long until you start seeing some activity? Did my starter at about 3:30 pm yesterday and it's now 6:30 am and I'm not seeing anything. I'm shaking the container every hour or more - except overnight. I was hoping to brew later this afternoon, but if I'm not at high krausen.... EDIT...

    First brew in the fermenter!

Good job. I just finished brewing my first last night. It's an experience - that's for sure. No matter how many times you read and re-read, there's nothing like getting in there and doing it. I had a couple of minor things to worry about, and some things that I could do better next time, but...
