    Newbie Brewer from Arkansas

If you are in Central Arkansas, the Central Arkansas Fermenters are having their monthly meeting TONIGHT! PM me for details.

    What Would Happen If...

I have not used that specific "juice", but have fermented others similarly. You tend to lose the flavor of the juice for the most part after it ferments. Also, depending on the additives it may not ferment well anyway. Suggestions below. If Kegging - Fully produce the Wit then add measured...

Need to increase AG capacity and need sugggestions

What pre-boil volume are you attempting to boil? I am questioning why you cannot use your current 15g pot. Even if you were boiling off 2 gallons per hour, that still leaves you 3 gallons of initial head room. Maybe you are actually collecting more than that to compensate for loss? I have done...

    Signs of fermentation

It would seem that you have 2 indications of fermentation. Smell and warmth. Have you tried to push the lid down tighter? Assuming it is a snap on lid and not threaded. RDWHAHB! :tank:

    Tower extension, anyone use one?

They started out as new old stock from a part store that went out of business. They are early Edsel/Hudson/Ford/... connecting rods. They were coupled to "turnbuckles" that are used to stretch fences if I remember correctly. I have since built a new brewery/tap room so they have evolved into this.

    Tower extension, anyone use one?

I put extensions on my old kegorator. They worked great for adding 4 more taps. Installing them can be somewhat cumbersome since you are cramming more lines and faucets into a small area. Great solution though.

    Cooling with ice

I assume you are boiling your wort and then topping off with water? If so, put the top off water in the refrigerator or freezer before brewing so that when you add it in, it will drop your temps without having to ice bath. You could use ice similarly.

    FastFerment conical

I have done almost the same. I have SS coils mounted to the lids that I pump glycol through accompanied by a pump and valves controlled by a BCS. My SWMBO has/is sewing jackets for them. Basically using multiple layers of the same material that a heavy quilt is made from. It seems to be able to...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Thank you! Well, I will pass on the praise to the Seamstress Who Must Be Obeyed. She is going to make a cover to go over it out of some black material that will hopefully shed any spills. Similar premise as the brewjacket outer cover. Unfortunately for her, she needs to make 3 more of these... :ban:

Gotcha. Thank you for the info!

    BCS Firmware 4.0 Released

No manual mode or HMI? I do not currently use a custom HMI on either of mine but hope too soon... From the thread on ECC they will add it back in though. No manual mode is confusing. You have to turn on a process to perform an action without a concession for manually testing?

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Any plans for something like below? My SWMBO has been working on our first "prototype". I am chilling each fermenter with glycol immersion chillers therefore I would prefer a tighter blanket than chamber.

Kegs in a Beverage Air DD68

If it is the same as my ancient one I used to use, I would venture to say more than you will have taps for.... I partitioned it into 2 sections. One side I kept 8 cornies on tap. The other side was temp controlled with a fan/flap and heating element and could fit 4 carboys. There was a hump on...

FastFerment to Mark II Carboy Cleaner Adapter

Awesome idea!!!! I have been fighting the Fast Fermenters on my washer without a solution. Thank you for sharing!

    Inside the house boiling

Personally if it is inside (basement), there is no other option but electric. There are many examples of solutions in the DIY area that will suffice from simple no frills electric to over the top automated systems. As others have stated, there are many ways to leverage electricity. As long you...

Tea beer idea (need some advice)

I have used tea in beer many times. I mainly use it as an addition and not the core of the beer. I typically make a basic hef and then steep tea bags at 5 or so minutes out. I typically throw in all of the bags from one of the Republic of Tea canisters. Works great in a 5 gallon batch.

    Mango Chile Wheat

To your exact question, I have not. I have made a mango chile hef though. I use tea. Something similar to below. I have made a number of "tea infused" hefs and they have always turned out great. I throw all of the packets from one of those containers into the boil kettle just before flame out...

    Coconut Curry Hefeweizen

The value in the parenthesis is the addition timing for the boil. Also, this thread is 7 years old.... :drunk:

    portable kegerator for long term

From my experience, the gas/serving equipment is pricier than a freezer. Obviously there are 2 sides to that coin. Could you not pick up a cheap deep freeze on Craigslist? If you are scheduling it out, you could do as below maybe. It would get you kegging sooner rather than later without a lot...

    Thermoelectric fermentor temp control

I don't disagree with the beauty of their simplicity in comparison to the functionality provided. I have a pile of them laying around that I played with and still think they are a possible solution. I am just somewhat jaded in the approach that most take. I do hope that others behind me will...
