So does anyone use Khan Academy?

First off, it is a free site and I am not shilling for them or affiliated with them in any way. The YouTube link is a link to a TED talk by their founder with Bill Gates as the host if that tells you anything. https://www.khanacademy.org/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM95HHI4gLk...

Since we have a pile of Socal members

We should do a gathering. Swap beer, talk shop, throw something on the grill, etc.

So you think your kitchen sink is clean until...

you do a heavy oxi soak on some stuff, lol. I drained it and I was like "Ohhh so that is what white really looks like." :p

Brew day called due to rain so I grabbed a gallon of Calico Amber

while I was at HBM grabbing some yeast. Now I'm working my way through the gallon, slinging code for a client and watching anime. Yeah my idea of a good night isn't exactly normal. :p With a gallon of good beer in a growler that needs to be drunk though one thing is for sure... I'll be...

Oops, pitched the wrong yeast... this should be interesting!

Was getting things together for this weekends brew and realized I pitched a Neobritannia smack pack instead of my Trappist smack pack into the Patersbier I brewed last week, lol. Oh well should be an interesting mix. Now I need to run by the LHBS to grab some yeast for this weekend.

Wow an immersion pump makes a big difference.

Got it a couple weeks ago and this was my first time using it. Not only did I not have to drag the garden hose out but I could recirc ice water through it from the ice bath the pot was sitting in. Cooled it in around ten minutes. I imagine once I tweak the method I can get that down some more...

The other hobby I do that people think is odd... straight razors

The green handled one is a Dovo and is only a couple years old. The other is about 100 years old and still gives a perfect shave. Got to love shaving with something that you'll be passing down to your kids instead of having to buy cartridges for crazy money that only last a couple uses. I...

A shoutout to Keg Cowboy, great service!

Placed an order with Keg Cowboy for a spare 10# CO2 bottle (cheaper than anywhere else I had looked), a regulator and some misc parts. I was missing the barbs on a couple of my ball lock gas disconnects but hadn't had any luck finding them so I called them after I placed my order and asked...

Two kegs in and I'm sold using syrups for variety rocks!

So I started out making kegs full of lemon lime soda since that is most of what I drink but quickly realized I wanted more variety. My biggest put offs with soda are caffeine and calories so syrups were a perfect choice. No caffeine and using substitute instead of sugar no calories either...

I rewired my Johnson... no not that one

Yeah I know what your thinking but no not that Johnson. :p This forum has corrupted me. Now when I look at something instead of thinking how I can make it work with what I am doing I think about how I could tear it apart and make it do exactly what I want, lol. Anyway, I finished the keezer...

    Another TSS2 controller box build

I wanted something I could move around and even let people borrow if needed. I also required an unswitched outlet so I could run a fan/blower or other device if needed. Here is how I did it... I attached a parts list but if you don't do electrical stuff you will also need some...

Keezer... stain or paint, looking for input

So I got white paint to pretty much match the freezer but now that I'm ready to sand and paint I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't stain it instead. There is nothing special about the wood but it looks pretty good grain wise and is a lite wood. Anyway, on the handle is a piece of wood I...

Need some quick and easy brew ideas...

Should be finishing my keezer this weekend but that means I will have 2 dry taps... well 1 dry tap once I brew the IPA I have all ready to brew this weekend. Anyway, over the next couple weeks I want to fill that last tap and the two kegs I will have in the keezer for conditioning. What I...

Filling CO2, weights, tare, etc... sure I got it right but want to verify

OK I've taken my 10# bottle to two places so far to get it filled and both of them messed it up. First one seemed to know what he was doing but the tank was low so I only got a partial fill. He actually weighed before and after and only charged me partial. The keg place I went to today...

    The dangers of multitasking...

So I'm cleaning out a keg while I put together a batch of soda to fill it with. The last step I usually take is to fill it with sanitizer, pressurize it then run it through the hoses. Well I toss the picnic tap into the sink and lock it open then run to do something real quick... and forgot...

GE 7 CF (FCM7SUWW) keezer conversion

OK this is going to be the tool challenged, learn as you go, version of a keezer conversion thread. It will either be humorous or incredibly sad depending on how you look at it, lol. This thread is mostly to document what I do for others to read cause I know I couldn't get enough of the keezer...

My first attempt at a soda

So I got my kegs in and am building my keezer. With all that said I plan to have one tap for sodas. Not a big soda drinker but I do like a good root beer or ginger ale and I'm an off and on regular drinker of light lemon/lime type drinks. This pass was what I had in the house (except the...

Deaf delivery guy + broken door bell = awkward

So I'm working on my first soda attempt in the kitchen yesterday. Haven't really started yet but I'm elbow deep in suds and both sinks are full of stuff I'm cleaning and/or sterilizing. All the windows are open and there is a nice breeze going. I notice out of the corner of my eye there is a...
