Soda as a beer brewing ingredient?

I saw there was another thread where this was mentioned, but that was it; can soda be used as one of the primary ingredients in beer? I'm sure it wouldn't taste like normal beer, but it could be interesting to make a beer out of Coke with some finishing grains to round out the taste. Does...

    Forgot to prime before bottling!

Too late, they're all capped. Good idea with leaving a couple unprimed, wish I would have thought of that.

    Forgot to prime before bottling!

I'm trying this method, wish me luck(and unexploded bottles)!

    Forgot to prime before bottling!

I was in a rush to get by IPA bottled and I forgot to prime it! Is this beer likely to be ok, if a little strange because of the lack of bubbles? Does the lack of CO2 mean the air in the bottles will damage the beer? So far my beer education seems to be making every mistake once. :(

    Straining Traub/Foam

Thanks for the replies. I've had my other batches settle much sooner than this, but I guess it is just moving at a different pace.

    Straining Traub/Foam

Hi All, I've had a batch of IPA that the kit's directions say should be ready to bottle within 4-7 days(I started it late the evening of 8/25), but still has massive amounts of foam on top. How/Should I strain/scoop this stuff off and bottle my beer? In previous batches, I waited until the foam...

    Overly hot wort

I rehydrated and pitched 2x 15 gram packages of Coopers last night, then stirred it in some. When you pitch your yeast, do you usually aerate your wort and stir the yeast in? A local brew store told me that's probably why I've been getting a high final gravity (like 20), not aerating the wort. A...

    Overly hot wort

Hm, I guess I'd better pick up some more yeast, then. I tried to cool it down once I realized what happened, but it may have not been fast enough if it only takes a few minutes to kill yeast above 80 degrees. Thanks!

    Overly hot wort

When I was brewing last night, I forgot to check the temperature of my wort until after I added my yeast. As it turned out, the wort was between 110 and 115 degrees! I stirred the liquid german wheat beer yeast into the wort thoroughly after aerating it, if that makes a difference. This is only...
