My SWMBO is She who supports all homebrew purchases

Mine supports the hobby but she only likes that watered down racecar beer. She's a good sport and tries most of them but I have yet to make one she likes. She's better looking than me too. Much better ass! ;)

Child Labor and who else is guilty?!?

My son loves to use the capper. He's eleven and only about 55 lbs so he has to put all of his weight into pushing down the arms. It's funny to watch but he loves it. My daughter usually does the sanitation. She uses the Avinnator bottle rinser with starsan. With the kids help, I can...

Is It Drinkable or Should I Pitch It?

Thermometers do not contain mercury anymore. They use alcohol in it's place so mercury poisoning is not an issue. However, in my opinion, I think you're making the right move. I wouldn't risk it either. I'd dump it and call it a learning experience.

How bad did i screw up?

Before I pour the LME, I wash the outside of the container with soap and water. When it's time to pour the LME, I pour out as much as possible and just dip the container in the water before I stir. I scoop up some of the nearly boiling water and stir/swish it in the container to dissolve the...

Too Bitter - What am I doing wrong?

Ok, I chilled one today and had a taste. It's better than it was a week ago but it's still a little bitter for the style of beer. Now, the taste while drinking is acceptable. The after taste is still a bit strong. I'm going to let it sit another week and try it again and let you all know how...

Too Bitter - What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!! I'm going to let it condition for a week or so longer. Hopefully, it will mellow out a bit more.

Too Bitter - What am I doing wrong?

I thought the same thing about the Hops. I'm still a little new to the brewing process so I figured they knew what they were doing when they formulated the kit. If I use Cluster hops again in the future, I may just cut the volume back a little. I'll let it sit in the bottle a little longer...

Too Bitter - What am I doing wrong?

I brewed the NortherBrewer Cream Ale kit about a month ago and finally cracked the first bottle open last night for a taste. I was very disappointed in the bitterness of the beer. I expected to taste a light bitterness, kind of like a Megabrewer style beer but it is very bitter. I...

    Homebrewing too popular???

First of all, I need to apologize for only having been brewing my own beer for the past six months. I'm very new to the hobby. It's fun. I had not noticed that it was a fad though. I've mentioned to several people that I brew my own beer and they look at me and the first question out of...
