    no these are thing i didnt know. it was 5 gallons hot it was closer to 4.5 when it cooled. still learning a lot! is there a good reference place to figure your water volumes to use for recipes?

    I do the kegging thing so I'm not 100% sure on the priming sugar. although I've never seen any directions changed in any recipes I've read containing extract.

    first time wine maker

    my first try is a vinters reserve bergamais. my fist s.g. was 1.070. when it dropped to 1.010 i racked it into secondary but per the directions i didn't top it off. the air lock had been very quiet on the secondary fermenter. is this normal or have i made an error?

    im a newbie doing my first batch. its a kit. ive put it in the secondary fermentor and the recipe said not to top off the carboy. the air lock is extreamly quiet. is this proper.
