    4 faucet jockey box build

Awesome job. I'm about to build the exact same setup as you. Any suggestions or changes that you would make now that it's been in operation for a while?

How can I get the reddest ale possible?

I've used Ken Lenard's advice of using a combo of Crystal 120 and Special B....awesome RED color and didn't have an over the top sweet or raisiny flavor you might expect for 8 oz of each in an 1.045 ale. SRM= 18 was right on!

capacitor to motor or mill - wiring help

No, I live in Salina and am the founder and president of the Salina Brewers Guild. (Sorry our webmaster is WAY behind on updates). We have about 10-15 members right now. Maybe we need to have a joint meeting/giant brew sometime.

capacitor to motor or mill - wiring help

OH! Hmm, I don't know how it is rotating then. Thanks for the info...and the cool drawing! So, you think I'm okay leaving the start capacitor in place and using when I start under a load?

capacitor to motor or mill - wiring help

Well, before I read this I was able to fix my wiring problem. I simply had two wires switched. So, it now works as I intended it to, starter capacitor and all. However, it sounds like I shouldn't use a start capacitor, huh? Also, it is a bummer about more torque going counterclockwise, because I...

capacitor to motor or mill - wiring help

Glad I stumbled across this thread. I have the exact same motor and am wanting to wire it just like kegtoe, but with an added twist....I also have a start capacitor. I have build my table and wired it up according to the diagram below. The mill is turning clockwise but I have a few probems...

    Share your mistakes please!

One day while distracted by my wife and cute little 14 month-old girl, I forgot to close the ball valve on my MT before I put in the second batch of sparge water. So, a bunch of grain particles and crap ran into my brew pot!

Autumn Seasonal Beer Samhain Pumpkin Ale

Great. Do you think Maris Otter would be a good substitute for the Golden Promise? Would you adjust the recipe at all (maybe add a tiny bit of Crystal 20 to give some sweetness lost from not using Golden Promise)? Thanks for the info and help. I'm really excited to try this recipe and I'll...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Samhain Pumpkin Ale

1.00 lb Toasted Malt** (27.0 SRM) Grain 6.30 % How long to you let this toasted malt "condition" before you used it? I'm concerned with the harsh, bitter taste that you get before it mellows a bit with time, that Randy Mosher talks about. But, maybe that it a part of the recipe's unique...

Aging beer: Facts, myths, and discussion

Read it all!!! Great topic and I agree. Since I have been pitching high amounts of yeast, watching ferm temps, etc, my beers have been very clean tasting. Now that I am figuring out water chemistry they are getting even better! :mug:

    Sparging times???

Honestly, I just do the easy way and have Beersmith tell what volume to put in each. :o Also, I have only ever done one sparge after draining off my initial mash-in volume. So, draining the mash tun three times or more seems overkill to me and would make for a thick mash as you suggest.
