I have made this post several times but then never followed up. I'll admit I am not the best at this forum stuff. Are there any brewers in the Buford area or any other areas nearby in Northern GA? Trying to get a group together for brewing.

Just moved to Buford, GA last week and am trying to get into the brewing scene up here. I am in a brew club that meets in the city of Atlanta but now that is 30+ miles for me, so it would be nice to find some people north of ATL who brew. Anyone live around this area that brews?

How many times can you re-use oak barrels? I have a friend who said he could get some 5 gallon Oak barrels for around $60 each. This would be awesome if I knew I could use the multiple times. If they are only good for one or two batches then it isn't worth it to me. Anyone know about barrels...

Is there any disadvantage to having a very large kettle? For instance, If I bought a 55 gallon kettle to do 30 gallon batches, could I still use it for a 10 gallon batch? Or even a 5 gallon batch? Or is it too large ? What are the drawbacks/issues that would arise?
