Anyone brewing in North Georgia?? Buford, Suwanee, Cumming, etc.

I have made this post several times but then never followed up. I'll admit I am not the best at this forum stuff. Are there any brewers in the Buford area or any other areas nearby in Northern GA? Trying to get a group together for brewing.

    Cleaning Therminator w/o Backflush

I have no sinks in my home that have the ability to put a garden hose adapter on them. In fact, you can't attach anything to any of the sinks. Does anyone else have a therminator and have this problem? If so, how do you clean it? Being able to flush hot water through the backflush helps a...

    Beersmith Water Profile Calculation

In Beersmith2 it has an option for 'Batch size'. When I am calculating what additions of salts I need to use to get a certain water profile, am I supposed to enter the final batch size (i.e. 5.50 gallons), or the preboil volume (i.e. 7 gallons for a 5.5 gal batch) OR the total amount of water...

    Anyone in North Georgia?

Just moved to Buford, GA last week and am trying to get into the brewing scene up here. I am in a brew club that meets in the city of Atlanta but now that is 30+ miles for me, so it would be nice to find some people north of ATL who brew. Anyone live around this area that brews?

    Beersmith2 IBU Calculator

I brewed EdWort's Haus Pale ale this weekend exactly as he has it listed in his thread. In his thread, it says it should be 39 IBUs with a 6.5 gallon pre-boil volume and a 5.5 gallon final volume. When I enter this recipe into BeerSmith2 it gives me 31.2 IBUs. I noticed when you change the...

Oak Barrel Question - How long do they last?

How many times can you re-use oak barrels? I have a friend who said he could get some 5 gallon Oak barrels for around $60 each. This would be awesome if I knew I could use the multiple times. If they are only good for one or two batches then it isn't worth it to me. Anyone know about barrels...

    Disadvantage of Large Kettle

Is there any disadvantage to having a very large kettle? For instance, If I bought a 55 gallon kettle to do 30 gallon batches, could I still use it for a 10 gallon batch? Or even a 5 gallon batch? Or is it too large ? What are the drawbacks/issues that would arise?

    BrewStand Build..gas manifold question

I am having a welder build a single tier stainless stand for me. The problem is he is not a brewer and does not understand the nuances of the design. Anyways, my question is about the gas manifold lines that are permanetely built into the stands, hard lined. If I originally want to use...

    Brew Stand Build Help

I want to build a single tier system with similarities to the Brew Magic system. Here is the a diagram of my proposed design. Let me know if this would work in theory or if all the tubing is too complicated. I'm no expert in these matters. The shaded blue area on the right is an enclosed...

Brew Stand Set Up - What is the best?

I have a welder friend who is willing to build me any stand I want for only the cost of parts, even adding stainless steel tubing into the frame (much like the brew magic system). Anyways, I can go one tier, two tiers, or three and add pretty much anything I want. I want it to be versatile...

    Hot Liquor Tank Ball Valve

So I have a keggle with a mesh false bottom and ball valve with stainless steel siphon tube that sits below the mesh screen. Do most people have stainless steel siphon tubes in their HLTs so they can drain all the liquid out of the keg?

    Beersmith order of ingredients

Is there any way to change the order ingredients are displayed in Beersmith? I added Corn Sugar, Honey, and Dried Malt extract. The dried malt extract shows up at the top of the list because it is the extra. Beersmith considers honey and corn sugar to be 'sugars' and puts them at the...

    Root Beer Not Carbonated

I have a root beer that I kegged 3 days again set to 35 psi. It has been sitting for 3 days at this pressure. I have shaken it a couple times but nothing vigorous. I have 10 ft. of 3/16" tubing connected. When I tried the beer today pretty much all that shot out was foam, about 3/4 of the...

    Banjo Burner Repair

So I had a pretty extensive boil over the other day and a lot of hot wort got onto the flames of my Banjo Burner. After I settled it down, I noticed a couple of the flames are permanently out and I couldn't get them to flame anymore. Is this able to be fixed? Or did I just screw up part of my...

    Buying a Brewery vs. Building

I am trying to upgrade. My set up is very primitive right now...brewing 5 gallon batches using a cooler as a MLT....have no brewing stand..etc. I was looking at upgrading substantially. I want something that will last. I don't want to spend $2000 and then have to upgrade later on....so my...
