    Does Anyone Else Eat This?

No vinegar here, but the Pinto Beans with crumbled up cornbread topped with the bean juice and then smashed with the fork....and a wedge of raw onion...yep, that'd make a meal right there. My mother was from Tennesee and Dad was from Ohio. Mom would always make fried potatoes, meatloaf or...

    Well Water Filter

Please keep us posted on the filtered water results. I have the same problem with my well water (the irony smell). I'm gathering the equipment for AG and would not rather use bottled spring water as I have done for extract kits.

    My Mash Tun Build

I used a pnuematic cut off tool for the slits and they look pretty good. Went not quite half way thru the pipe and they seem to be pretty sturdy yet. I'll buff the burrs off tomorrow and it'll be ready for use. I just realized I need a bigger boil kettle though before doing a full boil...so...

Why is called a hot liquor tank?

Just curious a to why it's called a HLT when all it is is a vessal to heat water to the specified temp. At least I think thats all it's used for.

    My Mash Tun Build

Well, as I've said, AG here I come. I've just finished roughing in my mash tun and am looking for opinions to make it better before it's maiden voyage. Question #1 - The fit between the copper on some of the some joints are rather loose and I'd like to tighten them up a bit. I'm thinking of...

    Next step: Keg or AG

I found a 48qt rectangle cooler that will make a good mash tun, so thats this weekends project. Building the manifold and locating a turkey fryer. The only other expense will be a larger brew pot. Whats recommended for full boil 5 gallon batches that will minimize boil overs?

    Next step: Keg or AG

Looks like the opinions are leaning just a little towards kegging... I'll have to see what coolers I have that might be a good candidate for mashing. I guess it really wouldn't take much to go to AG and then maybe a batch or two into it, go for the keg setup....Thanks for all the opinions...

    Next step: Keg or AG

Looking back, what would you have done first? I've only done Extract/Partial mash kits so far and am ready to move on to the next step. I have the fridge that I can convert for the kegs (thinking dual keg set-up) but would also like to get into AG brewing...The funds will only allow 1...

Is 5 days in the bottle to early?

You know, I did pitch the yeast at a higher than desired temp...and the first 2 days in the primary were rather high...and once bottled, the temp was higher than I would have liked...it all could have played a part in the 5 day conditioning. A little trouble posting a pict, but the color...

Is 5 days in the bottle to early?

I can't believe all the great advice I get from this group! For only 5 days of bottle conditioning, I'm amazed at how well the head stood up and the taste...and I know it's only going to get better within the next 2-3 weeks! Now my goal will be not to consume half of my batch like SpaceportBP...

Is 5 days in the bottle to early?

You guys are so right...It's my Beer and I do have to "Test" the carbonation level ;) Ones chillin right now.... This idea is the best solution to my problem...I must brew again and "fill the pipeline" so I'll never have to worry about not relaxing with a homebrew!

Is 5 days in the bottle to early?

My IPA has been in the bottle for 5 days now and I'm just dying to cool one down and try it....what are the chances it's carbed even a little? I see nice sediment....oh the wait, oh the wait.....it must be the hardest part of home brewing...especially not being able to RDWHAHB...because I have...

    AG - Here I come!

Hey guys. You guys are great on this forum as I have learned so much just from reading through the various threads. I've Extract brewed several years ago and just recently brewed another extract kit. After reading the various threads on AG brewing, I'm convinced that'll be my next batch...

    Over fermentation?

You guys are quick! It seems unanimous that the high temp is the cause of the crazy fermantation... homebeerbrewer - I'm using a 6.5 plastic pail for the primary. I'll be going to a glas carbouy for the secondary. marubozo - Let's hope the top doesn't blow...it would be such a mess, but...

    Over fermentation?

Hi guys, so glad I found this forum. The wealth of information seems invaluable. It's been many, many years since I brewed and it has always been the Brewers Best kits. I brewed a batch of India Pale Ale yesterday and today the fermentation is going crazy. I've never had a batch where the...
