    Ben's Passing

I don't know how much you folks keep track of each other so maybe this is out of place but I wanted to let you know that Ben - "imreallycrazy" passed away in a motorcycle accident Monday evening May 30. I know he enjoyed this forum so I wanted to let you know. Thanks, Dave - his dad...

    Thor Sucked!

I went to see it with my girlfriend, and although I'm not a big comic guy I liked it and my girlfriend, whose family all like comics didn't seem to think it was to bad.

    Wet shaving thread.

I, like many guys on here apparently, got started in DE shaving from reading articles about it on The Art Of Manliness website. I bought a Schick Krona used from a flea market for a couple bucks and cleaned it according to AOM's descriptions. I have been using it with the cheap drugstore...

    Crawlspace Brewery Build

Its been five years since I worked in the prpoane installation industry but these things I do remember; indoor propane heaters must pass strict quality tests as to efficiently burning all fuel at a rate that doesn't producers those gasses that are hazardous to inhale. They are also equipped with...

    bottling wine in beer bottles

I don't know what the "standard" is, but I did it without any noticable difference. I ran out of wine bottles while bottling and so I just filled and capped em like I would with beer, tasted fine.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Okay, I made a 5gal batch about five weeks ago as per the recipe in the first post. All activity has ceased and the wine has cleared, is there a general amount of time that I should let it sit on the yeast cake, rack it to a secondary, or does it make any real difference? Also when should I...

Favorite Regional Soda / Pop / Soda Pop

Around here (central pa) they sell a very nicely spiced ginger ale by A-treat sodas called Extra Spicy Golden Ginger. Though that's not quite as good as the Buffalo Rock ginger ale made in georgia. Sent from my DROIDX using Home Brew Talk

Saturday Mornings are for Brewing and Dr. Who...

Yeah, my buddy got me hooked on "The Doctor, just the Doctor" when Christopher Eccelston was playing the part. It's definitely a very dynamic part that can be portrayed in many ways as determined by the casted actor and current directory.

what was your most dumb move in brewing?

Not waiting for the trub to settle in my fermentor before racking to the bb. 1/4-1/2 inch of yeasties in the bottom of every bottle. Its a pain to try to pour into a glass without adding the unwanted bits.

    My logo/label contructive criticism thread

Some changes based on suggestions and things I saw in doing those, but it may be tough competition with HawksGirl's creation :D

    My logo/label contructive criticism thread

I built this logo/label from an existing avatar and screen name that I've used for several years and was wondering if anyone with more artistic sense then I have (doesn't take much trust me:D) would mind offering suggestions for improvements to make. Thanks Ben

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

/\ I've used the pvc elbow three times now and have had no issues with slow flow, but for some reason I lose siphon with about a cup of beer in the bottom of the bucket :( The best way I found when finding the right part for the job, is to go buying prepared. Pull your bottling valve from your...

Any one use their hobby to help their child

I think it probably really depends on two things, first and foremost is the temperament of those who will judge you, both officially and unofficially. If they think that your school is rife with drug and alcohol abuse, then they are likely to see it as an attempt to blatantly rub their noses in...

    Commercial beer recomendation.

Okay, I'm looking to build my bottle collection in the most enjoyable manner possible!:D So I'm trying to find a commercially produced beer that I can buy by the case that fulfills two qualities: that it be a pop top style bottle, and that it be in the style I like. So, the commercials that I...

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Okay, sounds like a plan! Now for another question: I used the PVC elbow mod for my bottling bucket, but when I got to about level with the middle of the spigot, I lost all flow whatsoever. I hated to do it 'cause I knew would increase oxygen exposure, but it was I could think of, so I stuck a...

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Ok a quick search didn't bring me the answer to this question, so I'm hoping you all can help me out. I'm going to bottle my first batch tomorrow and I have heard that after 3-4 weeks of warm carbing temperatures, when the carbing should be done-ish, that you should chill your bottles to put...

    Another novice checking in!

Hello, I found this site when I was looking for a local homebrew shop to go purchase some starting supplies, and actually, because one of the members mentioned that they were from the general area I was searching in, this was the first link in google. So I thought i would look around because If...

    my fermentation has stopped

I have a similar situation as the OP, I bought a Vienna Lager kit, then realized after I got it open that I didn't have the equipment for the Lagering process. Thankfully after rereading the instructions that came with the kit, and some searching I found that i could just cook it up and ferment...
