    Need Help Raising ABV

I appreciate it, but I pretty much just brew my stuff and just vary some hops types and small changes in mash temps depending on the time of year. I do enjoy discovering new hops. Mosaic is a new favorite of mine and I mainly just like keeping a killer IPA on tap at all times.

    Need Help Raising ABV

Well you actually do come across as a little snarky. I wasn't aware of any free calculator. If I had known about it I would have used it. I just brew in my garage every couple of months for the past 10 years and was asking for a little help. I'm no brew master and need no help with what I drink...

    Need Help Raising ABV

I don't have brewing software, that's why I am asking for a little help. I only brew about 5 different beers, mostly IPA's and I know exactly what I want, but this one is a beer I make for my wife for the holidays and she asked me to juice it up.

    Need Help Raising ABV

Yeah, I know that. I was asking how much to get in that 6.5 to 7.0 range. FloppyKnockers, oh yeah, I add a cup of bourbon and a pair of toasted oak spirals to each 5 gallon keg

What about corn sugar? I do want to dry it out some and lighten the mouth feel. If so, how much? And I was thinking about some brown sugar

    Need Help Raising ABV

I've got this bourbon oak red ale I brew and it's about 5.0 to 5.4 % and I'd like to raise it to about 6.5 to 7.0% and could use a little help. I'm posting the grain bill and hop schedule. Keep in mind I want to keep the present color. Thanks to anyone with some help. 10 gallon batch 18 lbs...

    Need Help Raising ABV Please

I am planning to add some hops to the 60 min addition. Probably going to add a lb or two of 2 row malt and maybe 1.5 lbs sugar.

That won't dry it out like corn sugar will it?

    That sounds simple enough.

    Need Help Raising ABV Please

I make my wife a bourbon oak red ale for the holidays and I want to bump the ABV % up by about 1.5%-2.0% I'll list the grain bill and hop schedule. A little help would be great! 10 Gallon 18.0 lbs 2 row 2.0 lbs British crystal 1.0 US Crystal 40 2.66 oz chocolate malt (74 grams) 1.32 oz...

    Priming in conical fermenter

Oh yeah, not to mention the bottled beer doesn't come close in taste. I honestly would not brew if I had to bottle it. I brew about 20 gallons every 6 weeks (10 gallons each batch) and that's enough work between the mashing, sparging, cleaning, kegging, etc...

    Hop varieties for dry hopping...

I've used the Bravo several times in combination with others, but it's a bit hard to tell since it was a mix. Since it's a higher coho hop I used it sparingly. I would say it was bit more earthy, but still fruity, not quite as harsh as some other high coho hops. I dry hop with 4 ozs in IPA's and...

    gorgeous oak chips...

Nice. What does a bottle of the Knob Creek cost? I've been using Jim Beam, might want to try something different.

    Priming in conical fermenter

    I don't see that being a problem.

    Flavoring with woodchips

I use 3 ozs medium toasted cubes or about 3 ozs oak spirals (2 spirals) Anybody here ever used a little cedar?

    Secondary Questions

I completely agree with what these guys are saying^^ I stopped using a secondary last year and will never do it again unless with a lager. The beer is actually a little better or cleaner tasting. I guess because racking introduces a little oxygen to the beer. I even give my kegs a nice blast of...

    Flavoring with woodchips

I like the whiskey soaking idea. I make a bourbon oak red ale, but I just add 5 shots of Jim Beam to the keg before I rack into it.
