    Fermenting to hot?

What will it do to the brew if it ferments to hot? Brown ale with a 1.050 OG but the temp was varying from 68-78 F It did ferment hard for about 4 days But with such fluctuation I wonder if i ruined my batch. I did used milk jugs of ice etc but nothing i had would take the temp down. I need...

    Aluminum pot question

This is why I don't use aluminum. Maybe i am just paranoid... http://www.rense.com/general37/alum.htm This is the main thing in the article that applys. "Your choice of cookware is important. Glass and porcelain are relatively nonreactive with foods. Metal cookware does react with the acids in...

    Force carb bottle method ?

I was thinking it might hold the carbonation better. I believe that is why they have special bottle fillers out there? And Instead of waiting any time for your keg to carbonate, you can force carb instantly a bottle. If i could just pour and cap great but i have tried that and it sucked for me...

    Force carb bottle method ?

I might try that again from the keg. But my last time it didn't work very well. So you just pour, cap and your good for a few days? Mine ended up losing head fast not lacing and having very little carbonation. I did leave some room in the top of the bottle, do you fill it all the way to the top...

    Force carb bottle method ?

Ok noob question here. I have a 5g keg and can carbonate it just fine and it turns out nice. But what if i am going to bottle off it? And yes i have read about CPBF, BMBF and BGBF. What if I wanted a few P.E.T bottles to go to the lake. Why couldn't i just force carbonate them with this...

What the heck, fizzy and no head

I seem to have the same issue. I think i am going to break down and by the Blichmann Beer Gun.And bottle off my keg. I haven't heard realy any negatives on the gun. The beer can taste great but with no head and soda like carb, ah well it ticks me off to. Now to save the $108 and buy off of...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

This is what i think i am going to do with my next batch. I tried shaking my last one and it didn't help, I still had to wait till it panned out. I will let you know how this one comes out. It is a Porter and I do plan on bottling some so my friends can try. :mug:

Boil question for the "backwards technology" newb!

I am pretty new to brewing but i have a few partial mash batches under my belt. Here is a good you tube video I have used to reference the partial mash technique. Link: As far a adding pure water to reach 5gallons or batching it all at one time. I don't see why it would matter? as long...

    New from Oregon

Hello everyone, I am new to Home Brewing. I have been working with my local Home Brew shops partial mash recipes. I am on my fourth one now and decided to get a 5 gallon keg instead of bottling, i love it. I am going to probably try out the all grain brewing but for now the partial mash is...

When to rack - if at all?

Ok simple question here. Most say to rack your beer after the main fermentation subsides about 1 week into it? It has been a week for my porter and I am debating on racking it into another carboy. I have a keg so it will be going into the keg right after it is done fermenting. But would you say...

We no need no stinking beer gun...

I use a bottling wand, it is the right size and length. The wand i have the spring end comes off. And the wand fits perfectly into the picnic tap. Things i forgot to do - chill the bottles before filling, cutting an angle in the wand and foaming to cap. But they still turned out pretty...
