    I agree with Reno that your beer is probably green and it will change with time and carbonation. Let it carb for a couple weeks and I bet it will be much better.

    Temp control difference

    It makes a huge difference and I saw improvements right away. Pitching the correct amount of yeast and temperature control are two of the biggest impacts on your beer.

    If you are doing just and extract brew then the 2-row would be covered by the DME and only the specialty grains would be needed.     Refrigerated fermenting necessary?

    This time of year you probably can find a good place to ferment your beer in your house. I would recommend eventually getting one as in the summer there is nowhere in my house that is 64F. One of the disadvantages we have brewing in the sunshine state.

    If you are going to have yeast shipped to you then I would stick with US-05 which it sounds like you did for your second brew. It is a great yeast to use and a lot of people still prefer it.
