    Off Putting Smell

So how'd they turn out guys? Did the aroma mellow out? Green beer taste was great for me (today after 3 weeks in primary). Also my first time with this yeast, but I expected the smell after reading about WLP080, just curious if you get any of that aroma with the final product (I'm sure it...

I could use one of these TONIGHT, I was working on some sediment with a washcloth just minutes ago, and gave up for now and I'm letting it soak with some PBW HAHA...

    Humidity and Beer??????

Austin's right, you have to add ice (I've used the re-freezable gel packs, but have since moved on to ziploc medium size containers filled with water and frozen (larger than bottles/melt slower)). About the shirt, every time I check on the beer, the shirt is sopping wet and cool (during the...

    Humidity and Beer??????

EXACTLY (Edcculus), just a wet shirt (wet it with the cool water) that you wrap/put over the top of the carboy that also drapes into the water. It basically helps pull the cool water over your entire carboy helping it stay cool via evaporation, or something like that (what I read). Here's a...

    Humidity and Beer??????

Depending on what type of Kettle you use (specifically the surface area of the wort), make sure that you don't boil too vigorously in the good ole deep south heat (easy to do). I live next door in LA and boiled yesterday in a larger Kettle than I usually use, and brewed way too vigorously...

Thanks to all of you on HBT!!

You're exactly right, not to mention the 1000's of posts of people either worried about (unnecessarily probably) or in an all out panic about their brew; for a noob, you can easily interpret that as high rate of failure or complexity. :) All in all, with a little extra time/research (you have...

Thanks to all of you on HBT!!

I agree HalfPint, and it's one of the reasons I keep such detailed logs (see my signature referencing my brews), to share with others EXACTLY what I did. Of course the other reason was to have something to share with more experienced brewers in case the beer came out bad/wrong. Glad to say I...

Thanks to all of you on HBT!!

Just wanted to say over the past few months, I've found everything I need to know in order to brew my very first beer thanks to HBT (or should I say its' search feature ;)). It's amazing that not once did I need to post a new topic/thread because someone had already asked my question before...

    Samuel Smith Oatmeal Sout clone

Hi BeerPressue - First, congrats on being the recipient of my first post/lucky you! ;) I just got finished brewing my first (solo) batch, an AHS American IPA, which came out fantastic! I followed the AHS recipe instructions TO A Tee (I didn't want to blame any bad results on not following the...
