No Chill Cube. Where to find or buy?

I ordered one of these and just got it today. Was very disappointed about how rigid it was - seems impossible to squeeze any air out of it. Does this model really become that malleable with the heat?

Yeast Starter using Mr.Beer Booster - let's settle this once and for all

I accidentally drank my last homebrew, so I ended up using dme to harvest the yeast from a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale... Daksin, you rock! I had no idea you could freeze yeast and even less of an idea what glycerol stocks are. A quick look on google looks both promising and fascinating though...

Yeast Starter using Mr.Beer Booster - let's settle this once and for all

OK, I want to reuse the yeast from my last brew. I have all these unused Mr.Beer booster packets and I'm running low on DME. All over the internet everyone says not to use the Booster packets for yeast starters, because they're sugar, and you want to start them yeasties on wort. However... On...

    Re-using steeping grains

OK, I get you now. Sorry - still a newbie. So what you're saying is that generally grains are sparged twice and after that discarded - because any further sparging would get almost nothing out of it - and if you're making a kit, get new grains. Yesterday I made a partial-grain kit. According...

    Re-using steeping grains

I realize I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm surprised more people haven't tried making small-beer from spent-grains. After all, the practice has a history to it. DaBman, that 2.5gal batch from a 5gal mash sounds like a great idea. Did you try it? How did it come out? I found one brewery...

Beer Machine Powder Hard as a Brick

Actually the instructions say to pour it in room temperature water, but I'll try the microwave idea. If that doesn't work, I'll try dissolving it in hot water like a regular DME. Thanks guys!

Beer Machine Powder Hard as a Brick

I bought a Beer Machine kit from the thrift store for 10 bucks. Looks like its been used once and sitting around ever since. I mostly just bought it for a convenient bottling bucket / apfelwein or mead fermenter, but I'd like to give it a try just once to see what its like. Problem is the...

Brewing small (2-2.5 gal "half") batches

Just curious - why use the Beer Machine as a primary, when it has the carbonation set-up to it? (I haven't used one so I'm just wondering if there's a specific reason) I would have thought it would have made a better secondary..

    Beermachine, any good?

I got into homebrewing thru a Mr.Beer Kit on sale for $7 this last christmas, which I've used to cook up a few batches by now - some iffy, some alright... Now today I found a (old model) Beer Machine Kit in a thrift store for $5: seems to have all the pieces with it, including CO2 capsules and...

    Apfelwein in Mr. Beer

OK, I'm super new to brewing, and tend to mess up with recipes in general (cooking, etc) so I want to start off real slow and easy. I'm on my third batch of Mr.Beer, and I would like to expand a bit, with super-easy stuff. This is why I love that set-up above. Now: Dextrose, check; gallon of...
