    american stainless conicals from PA

I actually got a Blichmann 14.5 gal conical which you can see below with the high legs. I was hoping to use the same cooling technique with the flat hose and pump, but then realized that the legs go all the way up to the lid. Any idea if I can still get enough cooling for ales with the reduced...

    american stainless conicals from PA

Thanks for the quick reply. When I got home from work I finished putting the conical together and realized that the legs extend up almost all the way to the lid. So the hose will have much less contact with the conical. If I insulate around the hose I should still get some cooling from it. Do...

    american stainless conicals from PA

I just got my first conical and have been reading through this thread and trying to learn about cooling. I like the idea of the wrapping the flat hose and then insulating around the outside. I am trying to keep this fairly cheap and will probably just be running water right now. Is it really as...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

I'm not sure if this changes anything, but the knob in the second pic spins on its own. Seems to be like a timer for the freezer to turn on and off.

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

I wanted to try this out and was wondering where the screw is going to be. I have two little boxes with wires going into them. One on the compressor(first pic), and one all alone(second pic). Which one should i try taking apart? Thanks for the help.

I just got the wife to agree to cancel cable TV!

I just got rid of cable a few months ago, and I'm so glad I did. I was spending over $100 a month for the HD and DVR and all that. Instead I got netflix and bought on of these boxes. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00433SP6G/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 It is great, has everything I want and way cheaper.

Brewing now - starter didn't start

I didn't take a gravity reading, but there was absolutely no activity for 3 days, and since adding the safale it has been going steady for 2 days.

Brewing now - starter didn't start

I know my starter had some cream in the bottom, but it still seemed to be no good. Probably is just what came out of the vial.

Brewing now - starter didn't start

Well, I used the white labs starter just like I normally would, and got no activity for 3 days. I'm not sure what went wrong since I have never had that happen before, but I dumped in the Safale yeast and had activity within 24 hours, so things should turn out fine.
