    German Hallertau IPA

Here's a link to the one I've made. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/ungeheuer-ipa-german-ipa-238255/ I tried several variations - one was an all Hallertauer for the aroma/flavor/dry hops. It was pretty good.

    Alchemy Hop Blend

Red Hook's Longhammer, a clone-ish version of which I've made many a time, also uses Alchemy hops I use a 2:2:1 blend of Millennium:Warrior:Summit.

Ungeheuer IPA - A German IPA

This is an American-style IPA made with German ingredients. It retains the color and flavor of a German ale with the distinct citrusy hop note and the hop forward aroma of an American IPA. Recipe Water RO + 5g CaCl and Gypsum Grains 9# Pilsner 2.5# Munich 2# Vienna .5# Caraaroma 4 oz...

Anyone ever tried an IPA with only FWH and dry hops?

I make all of my IPAs and APAs with only FWH (actually, I tend to add at the end of collection) and additions at 10 and 5 with a big flameout addition and dry hops. I tend to get excellent hop flavor (even when I bottled). After many brews with this hop schedule, I don't think I'd do it any...

Request for wort chilling alternatives on Big Brew Day

You could get a recirculating pump; you won't need much more than a bucket of water and some ice. That would minimize your reliance on using running water. HTH

Megabrewers Merge and Purchase All U.S. Craft Brewers

"In related news, Oregon has seceded from the union" Gotta pretty good chuckle out of that.

    WLP029 and Malty Beer Styles

I've made my standard pale ale, which I always mash at 154, with 029 three times. My results: My beers were very sweet, but without the kind of body I usually get using 011 or 036. As for the hop accentuation (which I love about the strain), it was the same as the other beers (mashed lower)...

Will the carbing time for 3 gallons differ from 5 gallons in a 5 gallon corney?

I make a lot of 'half' batches and now that I'm kegging (thank you Santa!), I regularly keg 3 gallons in a 5 gallon corny. I've done 5 so far this year. A couple of things I've noticed: 1) It is really easy to overcarb 3 gallons, especially if you're force carbing. I've had better success...

    New Belgium Ranger IPA Clone

I made the BYO clone. I did make one change to the original in that I added an extra half ounce of Cascade to the dry hop amount. I was very skeptical of the sugar addition, but the beer came out great, without any cidery off-taste.

    Doublewide IPA

Ah, yes, the Single Wide. Besides Longhammer, it's one of SWMBO's faves, so I've made several clone attempts. This is my favorite of the clone recipes. I've made it three or four times and really like it. If you can't find the Bravo or Citra, I'd recommend using Summit as a replacement...

    Doublewide IPA

Here you go. The brewer called it a "close but not perfect clone since I substituted chocolate malt for the cara 300". The only other note was that he mixed the Centennial and Cascade together and hopped one ounce of the mix at 15, 10, 5, and 0. I didn't get a chance to try it, but I've had...

    Doublewide IPA

The website lists the particulars as such: OG: 1.076 FG: 1.010 SRM: 17 IBU: 71 ABV: 8.5 CO2: 3.3 vol Malts: Amber malt Brown sugar Cara 120 Cara 300 Dextrose Pale malt Hops: Bravo Cascade Centennial Chinook CTZ The CTZ is definitely the dry hop. I know a lot of local brewers who love, and...

    Austin Home Brew $20 kits??

My first AG brew was one of the IPA kits from AHB. I don't think this one is the same since it has the Falconer's Flight hops (which I believe are new). It doesn't look like any of the other IPA kits, so it's probably a special. After making a pale ale with the Falcon hops, I'm intrigued...

    Brewmasters Warehouse-Slow?

Agreed on the quick service - aside from the holiday season all my orders have been at my door within three to four business days. Plus, IMO, they have the best crush from any online shop I've ordered from, so it's well worth the wait.

    Filtering the cold break?

I always cold crash before bottling. I've never had an issue and my beers came out crystal clear (at least the ones that were supposed to).

    Blackbelt Cascadian Dark

For 'just a hint', yes. I would omit the barley and halve, or even quarter, the chocolate. Overall that recipe sure does look good. Let us know how this turns out with the Greenbelt. I've always wondered how good it would be in a dark beer.

    Kiwi (New Zealand) IPA

Motueka is a little more 'citrusy' than Saaz. It has a distinctly lemon aroma to it. And I agree Nelson and Riwaka are great together; Nelson has that great passion fruit aroma. Another NZ hop that goes well with an American-style IPA is Super Alpha. It is similar in aroma to Chinook...

Extremely low gravity beers - anyone has experience brewing them ?

I would say this is a great word of caution for brewing low gravity beers. I've made quite a few now, and any yeast that has a high attenuation leaves the beer with a 'thinner' feel.
