    PicoBrew Zymatic

For some of us with kids that limit our brewing time dramatically, i think it sounds awesome. IF, it gets the blessing from some pro brewers. I'd gladly pay $1500 for a 5 gal system. I already have over half that in equipment that doesn't get used as much because I have troubles finding time.

Specialty IPA: Rye IPA Denny Conn's Wry Smile Rye IPA

How late can you add it? I did a 2000ml starter and the fermentation is bonkers after only 24 hours! I assume I just figure out how many points I wanna add and add the appropriate amount of DME boiled in a small amount of liquid.

Specialty IPA: Rye IPA Denny Conn's Wry Smile Rye IPA

A buddy is suggesting i could add a pound or two of honey to jack up the abv back to where it's supposed to be. Any thoughts on that?

Specialty IPA: Rye IPA Denny Conn's Wry Smile Rye IPA

Quick question, what will the impact on this beer be with an OG of 1.058? My buddy and I split a 10 gallon batch this weekend, only to realize 32 pounds of grain won't fit in a 10 gallon cooler! My water volumes were all spot on, which is interesting because it was raining out (usually get less...

American Pale Ale Lake Walk Pale Ale

So I ran out of amarillo on the dry hop... i got 1 oz simcoe in there and .3 oz amarillo. What would be a good addition to add? Cascade? Centennial?

Can idebtify these white spots on my cider

The cider sits right about where the carboy starts to curve up.i never purged either, rookie mistake I guess! So it's probably some sort of mold or sickness that might turn it to vinegar? Is it ruined? Was really looking forward to trying a farmhouse cider!

Can idebtify these white spots on my cider

It's been in the secondary for a month now, fermentation pretty much haulted before I siphoned. I have similar but not as large sports on my mead :( Smells and tastes fine so far. A farmhouse yeast was use, with cane and brown sugar. A

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Anyone know how much yeast are left in a carboy that's been bulk aging for almost 10 months? Racked off the lees twice. I just kegged it yesterday, and backsweetened )1 cup brown sugar, cinnamon and 2 cans of concentrate). But I won't have room for the keg in the fridge for a few weeks, at which...

    Caramel Apple Hard Cider

I might have jumped the gun. I racked into a secondary on campden tablets in hopes to start clearing the cider. There is an intense sulfuric oder in the cider and a very sour taste. Probably should have let the yeast continue its work, but if I recall campden doesn't do anything to the...

    Caramel Apple Hard Cider

Confused what I should do... OG was 1.072... 1 week in fermentation is just starting to slow. Sat it literally blew up! Took a reading and I am at about 1.013. Still some krausen on top, and the yeast hasn't dropped. I am going to keg and force carb, should I rack on to campden and let it sit...

    Dave's Carmel Apple Cider

I'll add my batch to the thread! Just pressed about 5.5 gallons of fresh cider from a local honeycrisp tree in the neighborhood. Added 2 lbs of corn sugar and 6 campden tablets to kill off any wild yeast. I will let it sit for 48 hours then pitch Nottingham. I have a packet of danstar but may...

    Dave's Carmel Apple Cider

Good, I've got about 16 gallons of juice from a honeycrisp tree in the neighborhood and I'd love to find ways to use it all.

    Dave's Carmel Apple Cider

Could I make this by substituting fresh pressed cider for the cans of concentrate?

Look for advice on what to add to my brew setup

@damnitbeavis Here's my answers to your questions: Do you have temperature control of the fermentation fridge? This is quite important. - Yes, currently only a single mode though. It might be nice to have a dual. Here in MN there are times of the season where I need to switch it over...

Look for advice on what to add to my brew setup

Some pretty good suggestions here. Sounds like a yeast start setup would be the next best thing to buy. I'm happy with my beer, but I'd like to minimize the amount of scrambling that seems to happen sometimes on brew day. Also thought about some minor advanced while I wait to get things like a...

Look for advice on what to add to my brew setup

Yeah I guess the worst part is dumping in my sparge water, it's damn near impossible by myself. Lifting the tun or kettle to a shelf for siphoning isn't as bad. So did you just add a pump for the sake of moving hot liquid to your mash tun?

Look for advice on what to add to my brew setup

I swear I was reading something on this site yesterday but now I can't find it. I think I want to add a piece or two to my setup every year, but I am at a stand still for what to add. Looking for suggestions. Current setup. 2 propane burners, one a classic turkey the other a SQ14 8gal...

Stupid ?... How do I install a wall mount drip tray

Did I eff it up by predrilling a hole? Are all sheet metal screws basically the same?

Stupid ?... How do I install a wall mount drip tray

no it's on the door so I don't have any coolant lines to worry about... thankfully! It's this guy here http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004B8IAOU/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Stupid ?... How do I install a wall mount drip tray

It didn't come with any screws. Do I just get sheet metal screws and predrill the 3 holes? It's the kind where the whole thing lifts up off the screws to be emptied/cleaned. I can't seem to find anything online about it, and haven't had a chance to stop in at a home depot
