    Destroyer Of Faces IIIPA Question...

I dont know much of anything in this category, however i have read multiple times that as far as taste comes, anything over 80 IBU's is unnecessary, something about that being the threshold you can taste... I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in.

If i'm going for a cheap beer to get drunk on, i would usually go Labatt's.... Probably because its all my dad drinks.

    Cleaning(not sanitizing) bottles

I just double or triple rinse them as I drink them... I then take my bottle washer attachment for my sink and blast them with hot water for a few seconds before sanitizing them on bottling day... I've had no problems yet... I only use oxiclean for removing labels.

    Steeping Grains

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure steeping grains are more for flavor and color than anything. You probably don't have to worry about your "efficiency", and leaving behind sugars. Now if you were actually mashing, that is where you need to be worried about that kind of thing... I personally...

Check the gravity. FV with no tap.

That is what most people do... i personally just let it sit 3-4 weeks and then take a reading . Its never not been done at that point for me... With that being said, i haven't brewed any big beers yet.

    first brew is fermenting

+1 to avid, and sutherns comments... Establishing a pipeline early will help you develop that much sought after beer gut ( chicks dig them, don't let them fool you)

    Bubble siphon

Yeah, I'll have to try the 5/16 myself... I feel kinda ghetto using plastic from a bag to create a seal...
